Any reason a Strive 16 would need a different jig than the 12 or 14s? Mounting up my skis with the 16s and the jig I have put two of the rear holes about .5 cm off.

Did my first tech binding mount with the help of this piece of italian wizardry. Friend bought the Evolve Binding Jig from the guys at Fuge Skis and it worked out amazingly well. Basically you thread round fittings onto your bindings and use them to line up the fully adjustable drill bushings in the jig for your specific binding and boot sole, then use like any other jig to put some holes in skis. It's definitely a slower process than a manufacturer's jig, but to be able to mount literally any binding with this is pretty sweet. Got a few pairs of pivots to mount as well, so I'll see if it's any faster or slower than my normal paper template mount process. Sorry for the upside down photos; thanks TGR

Strive 16 has same heel as STH2/warden 13, but I believe the 12 and 14 use something like the Warden 11 heel, which is different.

the rear holes should be a 32x75mm pattern rather than 30x80 for the Warden 11. So the bad news is that all of your holes are off...

I believe the Warden 11 & 13 both have a 40mm x 65mm toe hole pattern. The Warden 11 & 11 Demos both have 32mm x 80 heel hole patterns. So basically, the Strive 12 & 14s have the same as the Warden 11s, correct?

EDIT: What is the Strive 16 toe hole pattern?

Mounted up some 183 Bonafide "Thermos". Got them from Corbett's a few weeks ago for $300 USD. Had some Attack 13's on hand that I picked up on sale & employee discount for around $60. And about another $50 to Slidewright for the Tyrolia layout guide and other randoms I needed. Thanks to TGR for turning me onto Corbetts and to Slidewright for making & selling cool ski tools.Attachment 481017Attachment 481018Attachment 481016

Mounted a Strive 14 GW a few days ago, it uses the Warden 11 pattern. I should've taken more pics. But one thing to note is that on smaller BSL mounts, you'd want to install the heel piece entirely first. Or just the toe piece locator thingamabob. Otherwise you won't be able to slide the heelpiece in with the toe piece in the way.

I’ve decided to try and mount my own fucking skis. Never tried before. Picked up some used cheap skis previously mounted with Pivots.

I’m seeking guidance from the experts here and appreciate any help

    1. Can you tell from the pics what BSL range the Pivot holes are drilled for?, boot is 29.5 Cochise 335mm for reference.

Been searching for used cheap, beat to hell GW Pivots with no luck.

    2. What other bindings have hole patterns that have less chance of overlapping if I were to attempt to drill?

Just trying to figure some shit out before I move to the next step.

    Thanks!

Print off the pivot template to figure out what bsl they were drilled for. Other templates will let you know if you have hole conflicts. And enjoy, mounting your own skis is fun.

I'm thinking they're mounted for a ~310mm BSL, +/-. I mount mine @ 226mm between the rear most toe holes and front most heel holes for a 317mm BSL. Closer to the upper end of the adjustment range, but then I can also adjust to my 313 or 307 boots.

I'm getting around 315 based on my measurements, so in that 310-315 ballpark seems to track.

the last pdf in the list has a bunch of bindings you can compare by changing the layers. With pivots you rarely see an interference with the heels because pretty much everything else has a larger mount pattern and more adjustment range so it's easy to plan around them. The toes are where I've found most issues.

Use the templates and where the BSL lines of the toepiece and heelpiece meet will tell you what BSL that mount was, and where it was in relation to the recommended line.

I can measure it on my metal jig, but let me know the mm between the rear toe holes and front heel holes. Looks like ~210mm eyeballing it from the photo?

You might find the toe holes could be re used and the heel mount moved back appropriately depending how you ski and location for the boot.

Good luck and have phun with it.

Printed a couple templates, verified the scale.

It looks like you guys are right, I’m getting between 310-315 as current BSL

If I move just the heel back to 335 the front heel holes conflict the current heel rear holes.

If I try to remount with Pivots I’d either need to split the difference and move toe forward and heel back. Could also try to just move the toe forward, haven’t verified hole conflicts yet for that.

Either way these are my practice skis, just don’t want to drop $200 plus on a binding for a $50 ski so may find some other cheaper binding to give it a shot.

These will just be rock skis/ dad skis so don’t really give a shit.

    Thanks for the help

Are the new Pivot 15/18 front «pedestals» compatible with older P18/FKS155/185 front houses?

As in; can you upgrade older bindings to be GW-compatible by mixing pedestals and houses between generations?

In my experience, yes, and I think most people that have tried have had success doing that. You can always check for yourself--the clearance between the underside of the toe wing and the AFD should be around 18mm.
