The only thing I let my shop do is base grind to flatten and square off base edges, cause they have that machine and I don't.
I will never regret learning to do the rest and buying the tools myself.
Digital calipers cost like $30 and a few extra minutes double checking with a paper template will give you the most precise binding mount you've ever had.
I just used MFD's paper template to mount 2 pairs of Alltimes and in measuring afterward I was accurate to within 0.3mm both side to side and front to back. If a shop says that MFD's paper template was at fault for getting them off side to side, then the shop monkeys are fvcking morons.
