I had to, it was $38/OzI just had to see what weed that cheap was like. It really isn't horrible, it's that stuff you keep around for when you're out of anything else and don't feel like driving a mile and a half into town to the nearly as cheap illegal weed store next to the Chinese Restaurant.
Haha! At least now I can go to a store, 3 actually, less than 2 miles from home that have good, cheap illegal weed. I wish I could've done that in 1986. Actually I probably shouldn't, I'd be even dumber than I already am.
NY's legal weed market is a mess so there are Smoke Shops all over the place selling pretty much everything, weed, gummies, vape stuff and they don't collect any sales tax on the illegal shit, only the head shop type stuff. It's anywhere from $20 an 1/8 to $3-400/oz with gummy packs from $5-10. The weed is usually pretty good too, especially as you get to the $40-50 an 1/8 stuff. No tax is nice![]()
Guy that owns the ski shop I work at opened a weed shop, I get my standard 30% discount, which is nice!

On the curing subject…. I tried the low and slow a bunch of times. Always got shit results. Followed exactly what’s already been said, dry until stems snap, jar, and burp. I gave up. I started using a dark room with a dehumidifier. Dry until ridiculously dry and then jar with the boveda packs or something similar and let them rehydrate to perfect moisture. No hay smell, smooth and stinky. Seems to be the ticket for me.
Curing is for sure the part of the whole process that I feel like I have the least understanding of.
Currently we wet trim and then hang in the grow tent where the rH is ~50% until small branches snap. Usually 4-5 days.
Buds are then stripped off the lumbar and put in large totes where they are burped until rH is into the 60s. Buds then go into 2q ball jars and burped down to ~62% rH.
This usually takes around 2 weeks to get to this point.
Often the weed will have a pronounced hay smell, or wont smell very strongly at this point. It takes anywhere from 2 months to 8 months for the weed to achieve optimal aroma.
Ive read that wet trimming contributes to hay smell by releasing chlorophyll. Idk, its hard to separate all the ‘bro science’ from real science, but we are going to set aside a few colas from the next grow and dry trim those and see if theres a difference.
Hmm, I wet trim and seem to avoid the hay smell.
But I’m working with way less product than you.
Election day special…

Nice
Trying a different "cold wash" method for Tincture. Should be done in 48 hrs and ready to demo. So far I have used about 14 grams of weed, 450 ML of grain alcohol and I plan to let about 1/2 that to evaporate. If I produce 150 MLs of finished product I will be satisfied.
Chemistry is fun.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Nice
Did you just start the "method" and its the 48 hr "method"
Or did you start yesterday and its the 72 hr "method"?
(asking for a friend)
Looks like Ohio is joining the ranks of legal stoners
And dispos in SE MI are crying…
Made some oil for brownies.
loose chop 1 1/2 packed cups of good bud.
(does-e-doe autoflower)
1 1/2 cup canola oil.
into a mini crock pot for 4 1/2 hr.
strain thru a fine mesh.
[ do not press mixture. just drain.
otherwise you get organic plant flavor. ]
yielded 1 1/4 cups product.
Thinking these are going to be strong.
Will post tr.
^^^Did you decarb the weed?
I've found curing to be confusing, and after trying all sorts of things, have ended up at the most basic of teks.
I remove the big water leaves a few weeks before harvest, seems to give more light to the buds.
When I harvest, I cut whole branches, as big as is manageable. I then hang them somewhere shaded and dry, like a garage or barn or shed. Leave them hanging for a couple weeks till they're crackling dry.
I then 'dry strip' off the outer, undesirable leaves. I don't use scissors hardly at all, the dry leaf material breaks away from the buds readily. It's so simple.
Others have tried to convince me there's something lacking in my technique, but it sure works for me. I can process an ounce of buds in minutes. The smoke is delicious. There's no fear of mold. I'll never wet trim again.
And then all the dry outer leaves that have been stripped away, get tumbled with a fine mesh silkscreen for kief. The yield is enormous.
I like my bud dry, so it's great for my preference. If you like it more moist for smoking, it's easy to rehydrate a bit before smoking with the old lettuce in the bag technique.
Harvest On Garth!

Still sitting on some 2 year old weed. Should I make some oil for edibles with it or is butter a better option? Because I’ve made butter. Which is the better option?
Congratulations Ohio.
^^^ This. I do like butter but its uses are more limited than an oil.
RE: Ohio. Nice work. In other news West Yellowstone has defeated a move to allow dispensaries within city limits.

Trips back to Ohio to see family will be a lot more entertaining now.
I still call it The Jake.
