Dudes, check out Mr. Nice on netflix. In particular, the part where he goes into the mountains in Pakistan and sees them making hash. Read the book a long time ago (Thanks, Clack!) and was intrigued by that process, so it was cool to see on film. How long til the US market starts cooking bud in goat skins?

I usually turn them off a few minutes ahead of schedule, when I want to get close ups.

CabinFever, I brewed a weed infused pale ale with a friend. We dry hopped the buds with the cascade hops. Depending on your grain mix you're gonna have to go real dark or real strong to cover the slight taste of bong water in the beer. I wouldn't recommend wasting the buds plus the effort and ingredients for the beer. There is a reason why they stayed separate. They are better that way.

I'm prob just jumping in here. Does anyone go the extra mile and make hash oil? It's become a regular process lately when cheaper buds come through.

The vapor attachment and carbon filter make for a smooth and quite tasty experience.

You need to step it up.

Make some hash oil out of some kind. Roll a full size blunt with super good weed. Drizzle all of that oil in your picture (but made out of bomb ass weed) all along that blunt. Then smoke it with one other person.

Now, you've got a taste of how I roll. LOL.........

So long ago, but it feels like yesterday.

    Point taken.

Did not get to brew last weekend and the Fri East Coast storm will likely keep me out of the kitchen this weekend.

When i do get to brew I think I will keep em separate. Brewing a heady topper clone and really don't want to screw it up. Maybe try on another batch down the road.

    Thanks.

Anyone care to school me on the vaporizer thing. A buddy just sent me one (da vinci) and I'm not sure about the temperature thing. I have a few flavors and its been a different experience with each of them. Some of it has smoked a little and others have had virtually no smoke at all. Is it safe to assume that if its smokey its too hot? The default setting is 375.

the vaporizer changed cannabis for me. i've only had a Volcano, seen the Da Vinci in shops around. 375 sounds about right to me. In general, the vaporizers use quite a bit more material. I'll start a fresh load at 187-188C and slowly punch it up a degree or two after each bag. Don't confuse vapor for smoke. It's a smell thing where I can tell the difference.

I also have a magic flight launch box for the rare times I need something "on-the-go." It has actually worked great on the mountain as long as you keep your batteries warm.

ya, I'm still playing with it. When I first used it I threw in small buds that weren't broken up too much. That seemed real clean and virtually no vapor/smoke. The last batch was the chaff of an old bag. So it was packed fairly tight just because it was so fine. That is where it became kind of smokey and definitely more stinky. Initially I thought this was the cats ass! No smell, no smoke, win! Now my wife is telling me that I'm not as 'invisible' as I thought!

I am also realizing that it is best to just fill up what you are going to vape at that sitting. I filled it and let the excess sit until the next round...she was real stinky after that.

I don't have any experience with the Da Vinci but with the magic flight launch box you get the best results with finely ground, dry herbs loosely packed.

Works best with ground up product and I usually dont pack too tight....few rounds and stirring couple times. It is pretty easy to tell when it is beat bc it all turns a dark brown. Made some brownies with the duff and there is plenty of thc in there still. For portable the pax is great albeit kinda pricey. The magic flight tended to burn the product a little more if the screen got too hot.....pax seems to avoid that for the most part.

BobbyS nice batch. A friend of mine swears by this quadrupled refined butane instead of the normal. Does that make a difference? I'm just doing a half at a time.

Strawjack, you can find the actual study of vaporization on the interwebz. If I remember correctly, it read you want to be in the range of 180-210 deg Celsius.

ya, the funny thing with going elsewhere for info (which I do) is that I find this place much more informative and 'real' than elsewhere. maybe its just a comfort level with like minded ski bums.

    thanks all

I feel ya on that front. The information on this board is invaluable because of the experience.

As others have said, finely ground herbs that are loosely packed and not overfilled work best. The new Ascent vaporizer made by Da Vinci looks cool. Might be a replacement for my Magic Flight. I've used it for a long time and the screen is caked in resin. Tried the whole rubbing alcohol thing and burning it off, but not much help at this point.

Chill weed and isopropyl in freezer, throw weed in blender, put it in a jar, soak 30 seconds, pour off the liquid through a strainer into pyrex. Alcohol evaporates and leaves thc. The chill part prevents the alcohol from pulling out the chlorophyll. Dude that told me was sold on it.

I don't think it matters, as you are cooking off all the butane anyhow. Is there a big cost difference? Butane is such a pain in the ass with large amounts of trim, that I don't really use that method anymore.

Another popular method is Dry Ice hash extraction.

The difference isn't that much, a few dollars difference. I think it's the size difference really. Isobutane can't be much different. My extractor is on the small side. I'm going to do some Hw on the dry ice method.

Touché straw jack. I do find myself coming here for all sorts of info.
