I paddled out the cove then drifted south and slutted it up in front of the scaffolding and cameras until sunset. Saw Jordy, Taj, CJ, Freddy P, the Gadalphabet bros, and some random brobrah pros. Some good shit going on out there. Haven't been in a WCT-infested lineup since the Quik Pro at Superbank a couple years ago. Seeing them tear it up blows away any video you see.

EDIT^^^^ Missed that. Was there a fish or just a spook? Some dude got chomped on Saturday at Marina during his paddle out. Seems like a lot of sightings around recently. Rio del Mar had one (a sighting) last week.
Just to make you want to move up here even more, that is a complete junk show out there. Not at all clean. Shifty, warble mess. You should see it when it gets clean.
Still, all wind swell. The ground swell has not even shown up yet. 10-11 seconds from Pt Arena south. Off shore buoy and PNW are showing in the 15 second range. When that stuff hits and it begins to combo with the wind swell, Kelly's could get interesting. Hoping the long period fills in before my window at 2:45. I think by then the winds will shift down here and I'll be on a point.
Still, great start to the event. I'm watching. Kind of crazy that their window looks so stormy. This morning's charts put storm coming onshore Friday, Sunday and middle of next week. Can't remember the last November when we had three storms in a week.

Dusty gave the "Biggest fin I've ever seen. I've seen a lot of dolphins and that was not a dolphin" talk on the beach and came in w/ something like 6 minutes left on the clock. I'll give it to him.

Fucking funny. I left just after Jordy put down his first two big rides. What a shifty, warbly mess. It's great to see such a sick performance in shit waves. Then again, a few blocks south, once you get to the "...L-M-N-O-P..." part of the alphabet song...

That slight side/off wind is holding those lefts up nicely. Thinking it over, I've realized I'm a pu$$y and I hate sharks.

was there from about 10am to 2pm. i'm impressed. uh the pros are pros for a reason! especially in the afternoon as the wind picked up, the tide came in and it was messy. (the wave count also decreased).
here's a quick set of photos from the event. http://on.fb.me/so0dzI
Also a tweet came out from Surfrider Foundation about an hour ago:
"Wouldn't it be cool if Green Day showed up at your party and played a set. Prepare to have your minds blown."
The party is at 8pm and is at the Mezzanine. Ticket info here - proceeds go to "Save Sloat" program at the SF chapter of Surfrider Foundation.

What do we think... winds gonna hold off long enough for Kelly to clinch the title?

^^^ Never surfed OB. Are there really as many little peaks as it appears? How much beach is there? Looks like a mile or two at least. I know the wind isn't usually offshore, but is doesn't look half-bad... for one as land-locked as myself.

Dream-tour conditions? No. Insane action? Nope. Still a nail-biter? You fuckin bet. Rossy looks so unfazed...
