Holy shit! Wow. Didn't really have an idea how long this has been going on. Funny reading the first post about overcoming health issues, it's been a fucking roller coaster I tells ya.
Was on the rower yesterday, I just do it as part of a varied routine now, and still row about as fast as I did in the OP. I'll take it.
BD my erg doesn't have Darts, I got nothing for ya, but good luck man. Keep on keepin on and I'll do the same.
I haven't tried darts since. Spirit, crushed.
I tried that fish game, and wasn't much better.
I guess they're just warm-ups, but .. 'just row'
btw dancer, 7 min 2k is sick. god speed.
keep us posted.

That fish game sucks. Either that or I don't know how to play it right. Could be either.
Valid.
Or maybe I just suck.
Nahhh
Rowing sucks though

Some good stoke for everyone looking to harness their inner wolverine. Hugh explains how the rower is his desert island exercise and that 2k in 7 mins is the goal. Rowing part begins around 79 minutes in.

Pulled a 7:53 2k straight out of the gate on my first sit down tonight.
Then did 3 more 2ks with about a 5 min rest in between. Averaged about 8 min
My last one was pretty slow cool down with a 1:42/split power sprint sustained 500 metres until the end.
Really need to just put in more distance !
What if "Alternative" energy wasn't so alternative ?
Interesting. I feel comfortable at a 2:10 split and its feels natural. My strength has always been in a sprint. I use to be able to pull a 1:30 for about 3 to 4 hundred meters but just didn't have the discipline to carry that over for any longer periods. So for now, I basically pull about a 2:05-2:10 for the first 1500 and then gas myself to come in under 8 minutes. I will need to change my strategy if I want to get to 7 min. Ugghhhhh !!!
Oh and I usually set my drag to 5.5 to 6

I am at a 4, and I think I am typically at a 2:02 if I am fairly relaxed but not killing myself. Then I throw in the random 1:55 500 and kill myself for the rest of the ride. Not sure where the sweet spot is. Guess I will try them all. It is my favorite thing at the gym, and usually empty.
Update. After a few days off the beast, I sat down and did 8x500 with 30 sec rest. tried to keep my 500 at 1.55 split for the 8 sessions. Was succesful. Took a breather for a few minutes and this is what resulted. Was absulutly fucked at the last 500 and had to stop for a bit. Continued on after about a 7-10 sec rest. This is the result. Pretty please with myself. Was gassed, and weezing and didnt even have the energy to undue my straps. Fak, I hate this machine.![]()

Okay, I’m in on the 7 minute 2k goal. I hopped back on today after taking the winter off and pulled this, without feeling like I was going to die. I feel like knocking off the last 30 seconds to get to 7 minutes is going to be the big suck.

Kind of tweaked my back this week and have been digging on the shovel at work for a couple of days. Good to see some mags on the beast and posting goals, and times. Zion, a 7 min 2k is a good push for sure. I am right there with you !! Lets do this !! I will be back on the machine in a day or so. Its all about putting in the base time for me.

Solid.
Do you guys know if drag setting effects split time? eg, all other things being equal, does 28 s/m at a drag of 6 equal a faster time than if the drag was at a 3? Is the machine that smart?
Maybe my stroke is shorter than you's guys but my 28 s/m doesn't equal the same splits. I'm usually at drag of 4, but have tried 5 and 6 and didn't really notice a difference in splits.
I'm game for a 7 min goal - but god, that's way out there for me, I'm hovering at 8:00.
