I'm looking for bluetooth speakers that will mostly be used in outdoors, so small and rechargeable are a must. Beyond that, not sounding too tin can-ish would be nice. Can I get something at least half-decent for under $150?

The NYT ran a little column about this last week, and they thought the Jambox was the best value.
Hmmm. I've had a Jambox for a few months now. It's decent, but there are some problems. Battery is great, lasts long, recharges fast. If you have heavy bass in a song, the unit can "walk". Right off the edge of a counter. Kind of bad at the pool. My other gripes are that the volume isn't super loud, and the bass isn't great. The size, however, makes it pretty much backpackable. I'm not returning mine, but I'm not blown away by it. My suggestion would be to buy one and keep your receipt. Also, it seems there's a bit of break-in on the speakers. May want to use it constantly during the first few weeks and re-evaluate.
"Yo!! Brentley! Ya wanna get faded before work?"
Yeah, the jambox seems to come up a lot on the googles too. Too funny that the thing can walk. I guess that's why the foxL (same guts as the jambox) comes with a rubber mat.
The $200 price tag has me leery of buying it without actually hearing it - nobody around here has one.
having good success with the supertooth disco. sounds good, gets pretty loud for a pretty small size. only complaint is bluetooth range seems to be pretty short, but this may be the case with all of them
Day Man. Fighter of the Night Man. Champion of the Sun. Master of Karate and Friendship for Everyone.
Funny you should mention that one, I was just reading the reviews a minute ago, and it looks good. My only concern was if I would find it a little too big to be truly portable.
How short a range are we talking about?
