Dude on the lift last week said Taos is going to drop ikon. As a future Taos skier I approve.

I don't think taos is overrun by ikon like many other places.

Dude may have had no clue. Time will tell.

Rolled back into town yesterday. Sunny pleasant cruising on today. No crowds.

Blaster of a storm starting tomorrow apparently. Should be a good week. Tue may be wind hold.

    Snow and a mini. Sweet.

I'll be there for a couple days in a month of Mondays. Things are shaping up.

Local I rode the lift with: What do you call Taos with 2 feet? ..... Closed

Which was true for the first day, but rest of the week was rope drops and bluebird everywhere. Enjoy that place is magical!!!

Yep. I'm here for a month this go, so no rush. Could be a down day tomorrow if wind blasts like they say.

that's what I don't get about powder chasing. I do not know resorts well enough to predict openings. I know Wolf Creek will be all open Tues. Wed.. Going with Thursday for Taos. Hopefully not a day late for the ropes dropping.

Probably not too late, at least for some of the longer hikes.

Looks like Taos is currently pretty much closed, as predicted by the locals.

Wind is HOWLING on the ridge. https://live2.brownrice.com/embed/tsvridge

Should make for some nice Hidalgo/Juarez laps when they get it open...

Yep - they had hike-to open a few weeks back, and before this storm I saw folks on the lift up the peak.

Have they stuck to the plan of opening Kachina to hiking first and then opening the lift a couple days...or months! later?
