Have JJ + Zealot, Want a Mixture

I've got 185 JJ's and 192 green machine BD Zealots. I'm thinking of selling to get something that is a mixture, somewhat playful but with more stability/stompability than the JJ.

What ski am I describing: 188 Megawatt or 192 Atlas? 188 CRJ or 186 ON3P Billy Goat?

Unfortunately for my wallet, the answer is probably $700 for a 195 AK JJ or 192 Bentchetler.

190 Bibby. Perfect. Playful and stable, the perfect ski. Also, only $700 brand new, and you can't break them.

^^^ What he said. I had the JJ, the 190 bibby is sooo musch more stable at speed. Feels close to a "normal ski" yet has a lot of the nimbleness of the JJ in trees and tight spots.

    lhasa pow...

I have owned JJ's, and have a couple of skis in the quiver similar to the zealots. The lhasa fits perfectly between them, IMO. Best part is, you arent stuck with a 19X length ski to get that solid factor, so flippy spinny stuff is still totally doable on a ski that can really charge. Even in a 186. Plus they are lightweight and readily available on gear swap it seems.

My quiver this year is the lhasa, XXL, and 112RP. Pretty stoked, although I think the 112 and the lhasa are going to be pretty similar. Luckily they have different binders and will see different uses.

The 112 would be another candidate, but if you arent looking to buy new, you will be SOL.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Billy Goats would certainly fit the bill.

^^^ Of skis you list, BG's seem to fit your mission best. They're $749; that's your budget plus dinner and drinks for you and a friend at a Friday's. Skip the dinner...

You are describing a more reliable tail for when you are getting serious, but one which can be washed out on demand when you want to get playful.

A rocker tail isn't reliable unless it's SUPER-stiff (these tails are under-represented in the marketplace, unless there are new models I am unfamiliar with). A standard camber or flat camber tail can be reliable with less stiffness. You can more easily wash out a stiff tail on demand for playtime if it's pintail, or twin (or the under-represented superstiff, low-sidecut rocker tail).
