Thread: the Wasatch's new worst enemy=TALISKER

I am pro ski area development in the Wasatch. It would be cool to have an interconnected network of ski areas on the same scale as found in the Alps.

Just think Andrew, this would allow tourists from Florida to stay in Park City and pay guys like you $$$ to take them to Snowbird for lunch and back. You can milk your ski career into your 90's.

As far as I know, there are no immediate plans for any chairlifts in the Oquirrh, Stansbury, or LaSal mountain ranges. Those would be great places to tour if you're so sensitive that the sight of a lift tower or helicopter is enough to ruin your day.

Knowing how to spell the names of the mountain ranges you want to develop would be an excellent start.

Damn. I was so concerned with getting Oquirrh correct, I screwed up the easy one!

We're all entitled to our opinions here, Trackhead. And don't worry, nobody from Florida is gonna want to pay you to take them anywhere. You're far too bitter.

It wouldn't be that cool, and the Wasatch in no way is on the same scale as the Alps.

You're exactly right. I'm not a tour guide, nor have I ever wanted to be one. Bitter, yes, cynical too, don't forget that.

Calling me bitter is a compliment.

You are dreaming. People who go to FL. in the winter would rather go to Barbados, or even Aspen, than Utah. Also, I hate to say it, but so long as the LDS church is running the wasatch and liquor sales in these parts, UT will never attract the crowds that justifies the current land rape fest.
While we are on the subject of Talisker, the Canyons will never make the money (real estate sales included) that justifies what they are doing to the land there. Golf, fish, mountain bike, chocolate shops, restaurants, concerts...no matter. UT just does not bring in the crowds (Thank God and the LDS church). Someone (or entity) is going to lose a lot of money, sell for $.20 on the dollar, and someone (entity) is going to buy the Canyons in 5 years in a fire sale.

seems to be a reoccurring theme at that place....... just goes to show you that you don't build a ski area on indian burial grounds, the can can is haunted!!!!!

I have a good deal on a condo pending, and I think a lift from PC/Heber to LCC is a great idea from this side and to help the traffic in LCC too. And a tram from LCC to BCC would be great too. More skiiers are coming, and this would really help spread them out.
I didnt know that jackass witherspoon was still here in spirit.

That may be true, but it is a fact that there is a stigma out there when it comes to tourists traveling to Utah...

and only a moron thinks that no such stigma exists.

Eventually this had to devolve to the mormon issue. Where will it go next?

Just for the record, I don't think that there are significant restrictions in Utardia. At least, in the 6 years that I am here, I haven't noticed it. But, I certainly believe that the prevailing thought process of the masses is that while Utah is beautiful, and perhaps a nice place for a very short visit, who would want to be there, or own a home there for any period of time.
    Thus, the Stigma remains.

You know, sort of like the "everyone from OK is a cow tipper" and "everyone from AL is a red neck". Both untrue, but widely believed.

No. But I do like the way that BRKLN struts her stuff.

It may just be because I live in Utah's "sin city".

TH = all very influential people.

Today, I was walking the dog near Rosebud and Rob's. I saw a construction worker who was on Rob's surveying. I asked what he was doing there, and whether Talisker was trying to "rape" that side of the hill, as well. He took offense, and boasted that the Canyons will be the first ski resort in the world to so closely [and truly] incorporate the ski hill with a golf course. I asked him whether he thought that was a good thing, and he retorted that it was, and it will certainly improve property values.
The point is that it is exactly the same with the proposed tram. It would not really be there for the skiers (even though some might think that they are benefiting). It is all for the $$$.

...another "jewel in the crown". ...hit that shit, and run.

i totally think we should let talisker do whatever they want, look at this beautiful lake they've built and the suppper useful orange kush smokin' bubble lift they've built over it. that lift was REALLY useful in mitigating the shitshow that is the can can's lift lay out.

oh yea and mclean's still blogging about it www.straightchuter.com

what a cock sucker ted wilson is..... that dude used to stand up to developments like this, now he's just another douchey no soul lobbyist.
