It sure won't if Bill doesn't get to ski.
88 is closed both spur and pass on Friday at 2:41 pm.

Mrs. Shoe just called me from the Heave....said it is awesome... Windy and stormy but awesome and deep. Said she bumped into Hardrider who said he and Kush scored some waist deep stashes.

80 was apparently closed at some point. 50 has already had one ugly accident.
I've got a project due at work on Tuesday.
I'm going to work this weekend and take Wednesday off and make the weekend a 4 day weekend with the addition of a Friday off.

I'm willing to bet my left testicle that the Wood won't open tomorrow. It's absolutely puking right now and the winds are insane. However...
The Heav was $$$$$$ today. The top was closed, but the lower mountain was sweet. Consistent knee deep pow at the top of the Gunbarrel/Tram area. A bit thin lower down, but still creamy. Toss another couple of feet in there and it's gonna be deeeeep.
As for the Wood, Sunday is showing some potential. If it does open...I'm not gonna say another word.

Just fyi --- the storm has been taking a breather down here however, so this might provide a brief window to get some plowing done. Stopped raining about 2 hours ago and I could see some stars....getting cloudy again though and the wind is picking up so who knows...Originally Posted by Arty50

Thanks for the update. This sounds like where I will be tomorrow if 88 is closed.Originally Posted by Tyrone Shoelaces

Just got a call from Gonzo. They're just getting on their way to Oakland airport from SF now to pick up basom & bill. Flights delays and other crap. 2 hours behind schedule already...Looks like the adventure is off to a fantastic startI-80 seems to be closed so they're gonna head to SLT via 50 and then just head to the line-up of cars at Carson Pass and hope it opens. Back up plan is the Heave if winds shut the KW lifts down. Hopefully, they'll get to SLT by 6 AM. Hardrider -- they have your numero and will call you in the morning.

weird storm. got only several inches yesterday, then about 18" over nite. which is the same as what kirkwood is claiming. Heavenly however, is claiming 3 feet plus.
cohee sounds so subdued on the phone, 2nd weekend in a row without people being able to get to his mountain.
carson pass on hold now due to wind and visibility, but hopefully will open.
6 and 10 on windhold.
time to blow some snow.
Any word from the gimp crew again?
Hopefully they've made it to the weed.
The traveling circus may be bringing us luck. Or else I threw down the hugest anti-jinx ever. Winds don't look terrible today...there's a chance...I'll shut up now...

It's strange here in the Bay Area too. Clouds, but plenty of blue sky. I'm about to go on a hike behind my house. Might get rained on, or might not. Weird storm.
I"m crossing my fingers for all of you up there! I called Kwood phone too and Cohee sounded hopeful at 7:30.
Good luck!

Heard from gonzo and the crew.
They have been sitting in Pollock pines on route 50 since 4am and apparently echo summit is supposed to open to traffic soon.
Off to the heave for some tree skiing, if kirkwood gets the upper mountain open we will probably go there in the afternoon. carson pass should be opening soon.
Really wierd....didn't rain hardly at all last night in SF, a couple drops on the window so I figured something happened to the storm.
...called the reports.....I think the guy at Heavenry said 30-46 inches![]()
Today is a classic Gunbarrel day...hope to get up there soon, now back to the books![]()
I'm sitting here at my desk at work trying to get some work done. Hwy. 88 still closed in both directions. On K-wood's website, they say 88 may open at the earliest at noon. I won't be skiing tomorrow, and my work is already tired of me taking 4 hours off last week to get up to the mountainsso it doesn't look like I'll be getting up there next week. This sucks. Definitely next weekend though, but that's going to suck because all the blower pow will be farmed by you guys. Good thing about the weather though! Snow is always good.

Just talked to the boys on the road, specifically Hiway 49 from 50 to 80. They're gonna hit Sugar Bowl or Squaw for the afternoon, probably come hang with me tonight, then make a call on either North Shore, SLT, Kirkweed, or Mt. Rose in the morning.

At least they get to experience the Sierras PROPA'...fingers crossed they make some memorable turns.
Hate to see them come this far and get skunked... I think some epicness will manifest manana.
Yeah, I heard from them at about 5:30 while they were waiting at Polluck Pines.
All of the roads up to tahoe were closed at the time.
I won't be skiing this weekend either. Saving it for Wednesday and a 4 day weekend next weekend in the Desolation Wilderness.

As of now...my laptop is showing no change in the rotation of the low. I'm eyeing it and will make a call to roll up to SLT either Sunday or Monday night...to hit Monday, Tuesday or Tuesday/Wed. Then come back up for the weekend....
Wireless internet sucks....every 30 minutes I check the weather...WHY GOD DID YOU INVENT THIS SHIT?????? and its not even MY wifi connection.
