    twin tip advice

The closest mountain to my house basically only has groomers and terrain parks. Its not great but really convenient to get to so I spend a lot of time there. Two years ago i bought a pair of Atomic Blackeye Ti's because i had never spent much time in the terrain park. Toward the end of last season i started going in the park more and now I want a pair of twin tips to learn rails and jumps and stuff but they still definitely need to be good on the groomers.

I'm 5'11'' 160 lbs and a level 7 skier. Im looking for something stable at speed, good through crud, decent in the park, and because of east coast conditions it should be at least usable on ice but i know it wont be great cause its a twin

some skis ive started to look at are:
    line chronic
    line prophet 90
    some armada skis
    fischer addict
    liberty morphic

i love to hear any feedback on any of these or suggestions for other to look at. Thanks

You will find that this place is not very park oriented. I am not sure you will get much help on your question.

^this to some extent. Newschoolers might be a better place if you're looking to get feedback on park gear (lol), but I'll give you some advice because I'm here now.
Line chronics are an excellent choice. The older models were 85 mm in the waist, which is a typical waist dimension for a park ski, and nearly symmetrical. The new ones (the cryptonites) are 92mm in the waist, so they're slightly more all mountain oriented. They are a very park oriented ski nonetheless. I wouldn't exactly reccommend the prophet 90s if you're looking for a park ski, due to the fact that, although they have what seems to be good dimensions for park skiing, you'll find that the sidecut is centered too far back for much bidirectional skiing. The metal topsheet also adds additional weight, which isn't needed. Armada makes several good park skis. I'd look into the ar7, the t-hall, and the pipe cleaner as traditional park skis go, but their alpha1/halo series looks great as well. I don't have very much experience with fischer or liberty, so I can't comment on their products, although both companies have gotten great reviews. All in all, go to a shop, flex some skis, talk to the techs, and tell them what you're looking for. They'll point you in the right direction, although this will get you started. Hope this helps.

i love liberty skis, their bamboo core makes it a really fun poppy ski that is extremely light.

that being said, the prophet 90 will be a lot more versatile ski than most of the others on that list, and you won't have to sacrifice too much as far as park performance goes.

are you going to using these for pipe? personally i like using a bigger ski for park (i actually use a 4frnt turbo as my park ski, i love having the slight rocker for big landings) but if you're looking to use these for pipe you'll probably want to stick to something closer to the chronic or maybe the thalls (also a great choice)

but newschoolers is a better park oriented forum...word

sounds like you want a one ski east coast quiver, that can rip the park all day and still rail a turn. IMHO i like a lil rocker for an all mtn ski , even when i lived in onterible. I have not skied the k2 line recently but it might be a good place to look . All have jib rocker and from what i have heard they can still turn. A lil rocker for those rare pow days and less tip hook up on rails and jumps ( especially when taking off sw ). my 0.02. I ripped some S3s in ontario , it was pretty sweet but i could have gone for a 90mm waist.

Level 7 skiers should really be checking out something about 195cm, and at LEAST 110 at the waist. I'd have a different opinion if you were level 5.

Line Chronic: fun and playful, will give up an edge on hardpack way quicker than your blackeyes

Prophet 90: what was already said, plus think about the prophet flight if you're not riding switch much. Pflight is almost as stable as the 90 little poppier, lighter and livelier, more forgiving landing booters, and easier to force into shorter turns than the P90.

Armada skis:what lsak said to a point... plus:Go with the AR7 out of all of these. stiffer tail and midflexing tip make tip with sidewall underfoot and cap at tip and tail. Responsive, great dege hold on firmpack/ice, good in the park and around the mountain. Specifically a ski for what you're looking for.

You could ride the Halo or another park specific ski like the t-hall as well.......but for what you're looking for....AR7

fischer addict: don't get the one's withe triangle (more rotary engine rotor-looking) cutout in the tip and tail. Lots of cracking issues. otherwise, pretty good ski, but nowhere near the AR7.

Liberty Morphic: Great ski, just too chattery for firmpack and ice with the bamboo core. Maybe a level 7 skier doesn't have to worry about chatter though.....

    short answer: AR7 in a high 170's/low 180's size.

very helpful avitas, you may have pushed me toward the ar7. I was looking at the ski a while ago but read that it was far more useful in the park than on groomers and im looking for more on an even split. you said that they have good edge hold on hard pack and ice but how are they edge to edge and how stable?

axebiker: why should a persons level have any influence on the width of the ski? that should have more to do with its purpose. and 195 cm long is pretty big since i only weigh 160 lbs.

Rontele is at least a level 10, and could answer this better than me. I'm a strong 8.5, so I probably shouldn't have really taken a stab at this one.

If you PM Rontele, he'll be uber-helpful. His the twin-tip park EC snow guru around here.

I'm just a DFJ, but you'd think anyone asking advice on this forum for the first time would at least look around a bit to understand who they are dealing with.

Although, I do think Axebiker's advice is solid and the best I've seen yet.

bosco yeah your right, my fault for trying to take you guys seriously and not assuming sarcasm right away when theres no inflection or context and axebiker could easily have been just another internet moron.

i asked a sincere question and expected sincere answers, most people have been very helpful so far.

Sincerity generally only happens around here for a death, injury, stolen gear, or a scammer. Oh...and politics, FULL BLOWN AIDS, and TEH GLOBAL WARMINGZZ!!! The rest...well...it is summer in TGR land.

FWI - I'm 6', 185#, and ski the Volkl Wall & Bridge as my daily drives for midwest ice - both alpine and tele. I run them in the 185cm. Works well here, although I'd be a little happier about 190 or so out west.

The Prophet 90 you mentioned is pretty much universally loved around here.

Hang out, get to know us. Sling it back, and you'll be fine.

Read a ski magazine and search the internet...they have all the answers you're looking for.

What the hell is a level 7 skier?

And oh yeah use the search function and read reviews here. All of those skis and this topic for that matter has been discussed on numerous occasions here.

A level 7 skier is one who could have two shots of jaeger, two bong hits, and two drugs of choice and still make it down the mountain in 15 minutes or less.

I thought you had to be a level 10 skier to even be allowed in the park...

This is an EPIC SKI thing...or a PSIA thing...or whatever stupid thing. Here, we ski. Unless we're hurt. Then we do all those things Bosco talks about. You won't hear a lot of criticisms about "not finishing your turns", or "hand positioning", or "perfectly round turns", etc. That's GapicSki stuff.

The only critiquing we do is the naked pcs of your sister, girlfriend, wife, MOM, etc., which you still have yet to provide.

    Enjoy your stay.

To the JONG: buy something used. You're rapidly progressing and there are tons of people who use daddy's credit card to churn through park skis each year.

Buy some decent used park skis and beat the shit out of them on rails. Then repeat. You'll be level 8 in no time.

    Buying them yourself? WHAT?!?!

You should probably stop posting. NOW. You aren't going to do very well here. Sorry, but it's true.
