    MPC #70 Old Technology - voting 8-2 to 8-4

There was some good work in there for this contest. It took me while to narrow things down to just five. Here are my picks, have at it.

    Voting ends midnight, Thursday 8-4.

    advres

    splitter

    mtcham

    Captain Awesome

    skiingislife

I had to flip a coin between skiingislife and Capt. Awesome.

After all the guffawing (often understandably) about finalists in recent MPC's, this is a nice set. Lots of diversity in both interpretation and presentation.

I feel lucky to be in the voting. A really hard choice, for me it came down to skiingislife and advres, though when I first saw mtcham's I thought that would get my vote. But skiingislife has a beautiful entry and advres nailed it, including good pp with a red, orange and yellow color palette

Yep, I agree splitter- this is one of the better set of finalists I've seen. Tough to choose between three for me.

Wow, crazy range in this MPC. I'm a radio nerd, so Advres' shot hits me a certain way, but from a visual standpoint, this is one of the more "polished" groups of finalists I've seen in a while. Splitter - that lighting is rad, but I don't know why.

I like splitter's shot, but what the old technology? The fact we're still reliant on oil?

I think it's the analog price indicators, but I may be wrong.

Agreed that this is a great set of finalists.

Tough choice between Advres & Capt. Awesome for me, but it came down to my nostalgia for hearing my great aunt play an organ like that at a family gathering when I was a little tyke.

Rad set all around though... Nice work guys.

Stoked to be in the running against some great shots. Mine doesn't fit the theme quite as well as some of the other entries but I really liked it. Glad to see some of you all did as well.

I never enter these, but always tend to vote. All of the submissions above are excellent - really I loved all of the pictures. I just went with Captain Awesome more for the layout and composition than anything. mtcham's shot is also really great.

Lots of solid entries in this MPC. Went with advres on this one-nice find and shot!

Someday I'll have to try that old camera.

^great way to turn it into a popularity contest...

Great entries all around boys. Good stuff and good close race. I like it.
I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.

    Same here on all counts.

Love the technicolor saturation of Advres' shot as well.

Poll is open until midnight tonight (MST) Officially the forum will close off the poll sometime tomorrow since it only allowed me to set up it up for a fixed number of days.

I'm hoping the honor system works and people stop voting as of midnight.

Lonnie - thanks for the cross post - always good to have some new insight on such a tight poll.

Great to see such a close race - I went back and forth on who to vote for between all 5 pictures - I finally ended going with advres

Well you were most popular in my eyes!

Ultimately isn't that what all of these are in the end anyway??

i thought it was the fuel oil part, and it got my vote. i love skiingislife's, but that's where i'm struggling to find the old technology part.

What I'm getting at is why push this particular 'voting' to people who don't normally come to look or participate? So more people see it? This is the 70th MPC, why not before? Why not post a topic in padded room instead of voting? Why not put it in ski/snowboard if you want more people seeing it? All-in-all I just think cross-posting it was poor form.
I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.
