So it seems to me if I just use my AT&T iphone at wifi hotspots only I shouldn't be getting banged with roaming charges. I know 3G and 4G data charges for roaming in Canada with a US smart phone are freaking horrifying.
Fortunately I will have a verizon cell w/a US Canada plan with me so I'm OK on voice.
Web search proved to be pretty much useless.
Anybody got any experience with this?

You'll find something there to make you happy. WiFi = no charge, unless you are paying for the wifi

Correct, just make sure the 3G is turned off so you don't spend a couple hours surfing gay midget porn and realize the 3G had been on and you weren't on wifi.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot
