I borrowed Orange Box from a friend, I played through Half Life at least three times when it first came out and played a lot of counter strike. I remember buying Half Life 2 but I never finished it, played about half way through and lost interest. I'm playing episode 2 right now, definitely brings me back, too bad it's all aliens though my favorite part of Half Life was shooting the military guys

So what's a good modern FPS? Battlefield 3 looks amazing but I guess that won't be out for a while. I like games with good single player campaigns, I have no interest in multiplayer, that's only fun if you're really good and I don't have the time or motivation to get really good. Call of Duty MW2? Battlefield Bad Company 2? Crysis 2?
Play portal 1, it's brilliant and doesn't take very long (the puzzles are actually harder in that one I think). As for FPS - what are you looking for? Realistic shooter? If so, COD:BLOPS, BF:BC2 and the upcoming Battlefield 3 are probably your ticket. Team Fortress 2 is still fun, though much sillier now.

Is black ops better than modern warfare 2? Someone said BF:BC2 was just multiplayer maps with bots, I have no interest in multiplayer, just looking for good single player campaign. Will check out portal 1

If you are looking for a straight up FPS with out multiplayer bots, then neither CoD or BF will work since thats what they are in their SP portion.

Borderlands is probably your best bet for full single player FPS. If you have buddies with it they can go co-op with you but you don't ever need to do that. plus you can get the game of the year edition pretty cheap now and that includes all the DLC (assuming you are playing on the PC) if you wait for Steam to have its big sale you can probably get it for under $20 easily

schuss do you post on penny arcade too? there is a schuss on there also from NH

bwaha, yes, I'm the same one. Yes, borderlands is great (my bad on forgetting it), and I've heard good things about Crysis and Stalker. Also Bioshock if you haven't played that yet.

The MW3 trailer looks damn impressive, but I'm done giving activision $60 every year for the same god damn game with a new coat of paint and some new action set pieces to tack on.

Crysis 2 is more than enough to keep any FPS fans happy right now, best FPS campaign I've played in a while, and we've got Battlefield 3 to look forward to in the fall.

FPS for the PS3 I'd highly recommend the Unchartered series. My son has been playing Unchartered 2 and it's really cool! The ge starts out with you hanging onto a train that is dangling over a cliff. The story wraps around to how you got on the train and then continues from there. Lots of FPS action, but a really good story and very well done too.
