Quiver Overlap Question: Obsethed and Billy Goat

I have been on the old style Obsethed 179 for two years, and just got some used Billy Goats (10/11). I haven't skied the Billy Goats yet. If I keep the Billy Goats, will the Obsethed have any place in my quiver other than as rock skis? The Obsethed are about 1cm narrower so they might have better edge hold for days when it is not bottemless, but the Billy Goats have a good reputation in that respect too. I have been skiing my Obsethed when ever there is soft winter snow to be found. Both will be mounted with Sollyfits.

Where do you ski? The older Obsetheds are a great everyday ski pending on where you live, the BG's are a powder tool. From someone who has skied both there is no overlap. Maybe ideally the obsethed would be 5 mm narrower but whatever.
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I am in Tahoe, thanks for the info.

I agree, although I've only skied the older BG's. Obsethed will be the choice for corn up high, slop down low. On hard snow BG's always want to be turning. They work well on steep entrances and the like, but GS turns (or longer) on hard snow are a weakness.

I completely disagree with the statement that the BG's aren't good on hardpack- the only thing that makes that statement true is if you're only talking about the 09/10 models. If you detune the tips and tails (back to the contact point, if you look on here it's been documented several times), they rip on hardpack. As long as it's not ice, they're great. Personally, I think they're a great all around ski for anything soft. Sure, I won't bring them out when I'm skiing groomers with my wife, but that's not why I have them either.

If you search for Billy Goats, I'm sure you'll find some more specific comments about this year's version. In a nutshell, they kick ass.

Bump. I need more opinions on this question because of the contradictory answers I have received.

This winter I will be experimenting with the BGs and S7s mounted with sollyfits. I will only keep one of those pair. Should I also keep the 09\10 Obsetheds (mounted with sollyfits)? Asked another way, will there be too much quiver overlap between the S7/BG and the Obsethed? I also have a pair of dynastat Legend Mythics (88mm at the waist) that I will be keeping.

FWIW, I ski the BG's on any day there's soft snow. Obviously they're meant to be a powder ski and they excel in that, but the most recent 10/11 BG is also fun as shit on the groomers. I probably skied mine 80% of the time last year. You're making a BIG mistake if you get rid of them instead of the S7s or the Obsetheds (although I've never skied the latter).

Edit to add: I have Dukes mounted on my BGs.
