    Another Binding thread (sorry)

So i have these old rossi power pulsion bindings. They have a pivoting heal piece. What I would like to know is if they are the same as the FKS. They look different so i am not sure. I am getting new skis soon and want to know if I should put these on or some newer axial2 140's.

BTW I searched for power pulsion and didn't find any info.

toe is the same as FKS, heel is not. I'm not sure what hole pattern the heel uses, but I'm pretty sure its not FKS.

Definitely not an FKS. This is a part of the older pivot (P) series...not a 360 heel. A pivot though about 60 degrees, not a full 360 turntable heel.

It is part of the Rossi Power series (P series). eg. Power 140, Power 120 etc...

The name is confusing because Look/Rossi are calling the new FKS "Pivot".

    So for clarity I suggest:

    1. FKS/turntable is a 360 heel. (FKS toe and heel mounting pattern)

    2. Pivot (P Series) is the Power heel that only pivoted about 60 degrees. (FKS toe with a different, but still closely spaced, heel mounting pattern. Does not interfere with the FKS holes in the heel if the toe pieces are mounted in the same place.)

    3. PX is the non pivoting heel. (FKS toe with a very wide heel mounting pattern, will not interfere with P-Series or FKS series heel mounts holes if the toe is mounted in the same place).

    * To avoid further confusion, I'm referring to the toe styles as FKS. This includes both the Look and GEZE toe, as the mounting pattern is the same for both.

So is it worth getting wide brakes for the pivots, or just use the px that already has them for my new skis

I don't think they made brakes much wider then 100mm for that heel, (unless they are the same as PX) and they've been out of production for a few years now, so it may be tough to find brakes through normal retail. You may be able to bend the brakes that you have depending on the width of your new skis, and can almost certainly make the 100mm brakes work. I like the pivot heel much more then PX heel, but not sure that there is a strong consensus to that effect.

If you decide to go with a new binding, and want to sell those for a reasonable price pm me. I'd like to have them for parts.

No. Axial2 was an improvement. I'd say fks are better than both. Just my opinion... They're fine bindings, but there's nothing OG there that warrants taking any trouble to make them work. Sell them to chowda and put on the fks or axial2s.

I had a post in here that disappeared, weird...

I did too. Replied this morning after another skibum post that seems to have disappeared too. Strange.

I thought i made a post last night, but i was pretty drunk so i thought i forgot to hit the post button. Any idea why it was deleted?

And the skis will either be bent chets or New lifes, so brake will need to be 120+. I guess i will take the axials off my Mo'ships (which will be for sale soon).

I have a further question about the power/pulsion bindings

I just bought a very cheap pair of AK Launchers with that binding and I'm going to use them in my continuing experiment making my own touring plate set up (although the heel pieces are heavy bastards

I was surprised how much play these have without the boot esp. but even if you push hard sideways when the heel is clamped down. Typical? or are mine just beat?

Is there anyway of judging forward pressure on these?

Anyone have a pair of look/rossi Axial2 heel pieces, or anything compatible w/ the FKS toe?

Those Axial (1) heels have great vertical elasticity ( you'll only pop out when you really need to), but are infamous for play after awhile. Fine on pow skis & you'll never notice, but not the best choice for a ski that will see a lot of hard snow.

Big time! I really like the bindings but the heels can really develop a lot of lateral slop. This was the only reason I switched to PX-14's for all my inbounds skis.
