I do, but we dentites in the states don't know that name as well.

I hope to pass through again around the usual beginning of March.

Let me know! I think there might still be a couple things on your to-do list in the area - did you ski to Arosa/Lenzerheide yet?

I once had a fight in Madessimo with a greasy whop who set a firework off in our direction. Wasn't much of a fight to be honest, more of an aggressive hug. Hope that helps with destination selection

    Fer shure.

Yeah, there's that and the loop around Tschiertschen and down to Chur via Brambrüesch.

I'll loop you in on the strategizing.

In October my wife and I are going to run/hike/scramble in the Tatra Mountains and Julian Alps. If anyone has recommendations of must do trails, summits lodging or anything else please share! Thanks

If you're going to be staying in huts in the Julian alps, get an American Alpine Club membership and you'll get 50% off the hut prices: https://en.pzs.si/vsebina.php?pid=294 . Booking is slightly complicated, but good to book ahead, though I doubt it will be super busy in October.

We were there in June-July of 2017 and stayed in 4 huts and visited a few others for lunches/storm shelter. We started from Kranjska Gora and went to https://postarskidom.com/ at the top of Vršič Pass the first night, beautiful spot with stunning views of Prisonjnik. Then we traversed below Prisojnik to the saddle of Razor and descended to stay at https://www.pzs.si/koce.php?pid=20 (great hut, amazing views and good beer). Next day up and over Bovski Gamsovec (some real via ferratta), lunch at Koča na Doliču pod Triglavom (cool spot) and then up to Triglav to stay at Dom Planika pod Triglavom (big, busy). [We did a quick run up Triglav the next morning; if you're good with your hands and fit, just bring a jacket, bottle and a snack. It's quick and you don't need VF gear]. We hiked down to Vodnikov dom na Velem polju that afternoon and really liked that spot too. Next morning it started raining hard; we descended to Koča na Planini pri Jezeru and warmed up then had a sketchy hike/downclimb to Lake Bohinj.

Really great experience and so nice to be able to cover lots of distance and technical vert with just moderately weighter packs.

I don't know what part of October you'll be there, but we were in Bled around Halloween a few years ago and Bled Castle had some events going on. Decorations, costume parties, wine tastings, etc. It was pretty fun and worth a few hours.

I had been looking at planning a trip last summer that didn't really get off the ground. But I thought this was a pretty good resource for early stage planning. https://www.moonhoneytravel.com/slovenia-best-hikes/ I also used the Cicerone book Hiking in the Julian Alps. If you're in EU somewhere I'll send it to you.
Everybody's gotta have parkas. I'm talking custom parkas. Two words: "client development." They see all of you out there cutting the powder in your matching Schweikart & Cokely parkas, you'll make an impression. You will thank me later.

Can anyone with registration in willhaben (Austria) help me out a bit? I've been trying to go trough the mobile verification for the last hour and it doesnt work with my non-AT number. None of the sms number services works either.

Anyway, I want to pick these up https://www.willhaben.at/iad/kaufen-...-ski-702229796 . A buddy of mine will be around Schladming and Leogang with the bike next week and can detour to Kuchl and pick them up for me, but I have no means of contacting the seller without a willhaben registration. Anyone willing to help me out and hook me up with the seller, please, please drop me a PM. Love my Bodes and want to add this as a back up pair.

Massive thanks for the effort. My buddy is coming home soon, but if the dude replies, please let me know. Maybe he holds them and I can pick them up myself whenever a nordstau hits in Jan/Feb.

Hey subtle, the news stated we had dust in the air coming all the way from Canadian wildfires. Is it true? When I checked Monday it looked the cloud was coming from the Sahara as usual!

When would the best time to spend 5 days at Chamonix be if visitng France 1-13 March? Trying to avoid the school holidays, but it looks like that might be impossible.

    Here's the Euro vacation schedule:

Looks like the French winter holidays end by March 9, most other countries are also done by then.

    Why Chamonix?
