With so many threads about new forums, we obviously need a new forum to discuss new forums.

Take it to NEW FORUM Bitch!!

Whatever happens with the rest of this thread, don't make Basom stop posting his nsr topics - that would suck.

Do I care what happens with Ingrid? Does every TR, especially those that are NSR, interest me? Do I need to read the 10,000th drunk post, which looks just like the first 9,999 drunk posts? No, but I'd never complain about people putting them up.
I just don't click on them, or worry about them. If I sit there and read something I don't want to, it's not the author's fault. It's mine.
This reminds me of people who complain about sex on TV--pretty simple solution: don't watch it.
Unless people are somehow tricking other maggots (thread titled 'Jackson Hole Stoke' that's actually about Rumsfeld) or forcing them to read stuff (Yes, I tied up mildbill and read to him from political threads for four hours) then there's no reason to complain. Or maybe if people are posting maliciously or just to be a nuisance (CWB). But if someone honestly believes something is important enough to go into the 'main' forum, I say let 'em at it. Even a thread like this one, which exists only to complain about other threads, is fine by me.
The day this place gets moderated and we've got a DChan moving 'inappropriate' threads to their proper place is the day I'm out of here. Look at Epic and see how boring it is. Personally, I don't see the main forum so overrun with political threads that we need a change (I can only think of two of them on the first two pages right now--it's not like we're swamped).
So dex why would you be opposed to having an area specifically dedicated to that subject matter? Because you lose your audience. I'm not saying don't post this stuff anymore or even move it to the padded room. I'm suggesting it have it's own place. The injured maggots liked that idea. Why don't you? [cough]attention whore[cough] whoops, pardon me.

I understand you live in New York and maybe ski 3 times a year on an icy groomer and through political discussion you've found a way to share that pain with the rest of us but come on. It's a skiing website. If you want real tough political debate go someplace that caters to it. Or do you like being the big fish in a small pond?

You can say don't read it, but the headlines are right there to be read in the middle of the ski chatter page. I haven't seen blurred become more of a democrat, I haven't seen Natty become more of a repub. Each side launches shells at the other, but nobody is growing and learning from the other side. It's divided and it's the same every week and now year after year.

Whelks rule, TRs of any kind are awesome (even chicken suit or detained in NY jails) we're hearing about our friends and their lives. That's what it's about. Not battleing over highly slanted copied and pasted news quips.

It's not about moderation it's about the right venue. Obviously you wouldn't walk into a Burger King, climb up in the counter and give a religious sermon. Maybe you've got a great message and maybe some of these people want/need to hear it, but it's just the wrong place for that sort of discussion. I'm sure everyone who's interested in the religious message will eventually find there way to the church.

    Whoops.

Actually, I completely agree with Meaty on this topic.

I remember a drugged monkey who used to show up and make NSR posts that people tolerated. Attention whore? You make the call.
Just because you don't feel it's engaging to you, there's no need to impose your view of what's right for the board on everybody. As even this thread proves, along with the high number of responses those threads create, there is plenty of interest.
I said explicitly that a politics forum would be OK, but it's unnecessary.
You may choose not to take anything away from those threads, but don't assume that's what is true for you is true for everyone. There actually have been people who have learned things, including myself. The point of the debates, to me, isn't to convert the rabid partisans, but to make sure that different points of view are heard.
As I've already said along with many others, if you don't like it, don't read it. It's pretty simple.
I don't know what the point of most threads is for other people, but I never thought gaining attention (yay!) was a real motivation (I'm thinking of one big exception to this, though).

And again, how many threads on the first page are political? Is that one thread really ruining everything for you?

Huh? No hate--I'm sure not calling anyone out or accusing them of being attention whores. Just calling it the way I see it.

If we're going to start a separate forum for politics, than for god's sake please start a separate forum for porn.

    Yeah, I thought so.

I agree with others - if you don't like it, don't read it.

Are you saying a forum full of porn would be a bad thing?

Drugged Monkey is funny and intriguing. This is far from it.

I find it hard to understand the overwhelming compulsion to argue CONSTANTLY about this stuff. Yeah, I get sucked into it every now and then, but feel dirty and used afterward. Certainly not any smarter. Krist, I had to put the kabash on this shit at work when the radio shows over the internet (I work with some rednecks) became louder and more frequent AFTER the election. Jezuz, he won. Get a fucking life. Go ski. or get laid.

Ski and Snowboard Forum topics should include the following:

Stoke, sophmoric humor, time wasting games/diversions, smut and personal/maggot interest stories, not necessarily in that order. That is all. Keep the other shit in the padded room.

It's not so much that's it's not engaging. It's just that it's bad manners. I'm not feeling any need whatsoever to push any views on anyone. I'm just hoping to not have them pushed upon me. I'm not asking the posts to stop. I'm not asking to censor anyone. I just don't think this is the best venue. Why are you opposed to a better one?

And as I've already said along with many others, why does it have to be in this particular forum? Answer: you want a bigger pulpit for pushing your views.

    Now who's preaching?
Pots calling the kettles stoned, personal attacks and less than subtle innuendo. Reciprocity is such a wonderful strategy, too bad it fails to be successfully tarted up with sarcasm.

I'm sorry if you don't like my arguement. Or how I've phrased it. I don't know how to change something without making the arguement. Quite the quagmire. I'd really prefer not to make arguements, but how do you change things without them? It just gets so messy. I notice you didn't bother to address the issue at all, but primarily focused on me.
