I recall Tip put in a Thermador, who else has a high end stove in their house? What brands and/or issues have you had? Looking at a 36", dual fuel, cook for a crew of lumberjacks and cowboys.

We've had a Gaggenau 5-burner, 36" gas cooktop for about 6 months. Sometimes it's slow to light, but that's the only complaint I've got. It's super-easy to clean, and the flame/heat control is great. I really like having the big middle burner when I want to boil a big pot of water in a hurry.
But I'm not much of a cook.
There's no gas to our street so we had to go electric. We have a Bosch 5-Burner and it has never had a problem in 10 years. But I'd still rather have gas.
^^^LP conversion kit and a tank of propane out side.
I'm also stuck with electric, but when I upgrade it's going to be to induction. I hate propane.
Yeah I'm not a big propane fan, I've been around it too much. 2 of the 5 burners on our cooktop are induction, they're pretty cool but not amazing.
DCS 36 with 5 burner...Its has a removable cast iron wok ring for the center burner which is really cool. Set it up with Propane conversion.
Not me, but a (wealthier) buddy put in a Dacor that's been out of commission more than it's worked. I'd stay away from those.

We put a Thermador 6 burner gas cooktop in our last house, it was fabulous! We bought a Viking for our current home and have been very happy with it. If you have the option, gas is the only way to go.
I'm damn lucky I'm not a candidate for the Biggest Loser, Mrs. Gadget can cook.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Yeah where we live I have nat gas to the house, but am on a well/septic. Not sure which is the worse trade off there.
All kinds of spooky reviews on Vikings out there. They sure are the sexy though. There is some eyetalian brand and some blue one that the missus likes. Skinny chicks shouldn't be allowed to vote, need a fat girls opine.
Fucking LOVE it.
^^ Damn, that's purdy. But do you even cook? Those All-Clads don't look like they've been touched.

We've got a 6 burner Dacor stovetop and a Dacor built in oven, The stove burns great but the controls are a little touchy sometimes and want to keep sparking. The oven has been working ok but has needed a new control panel about 5 years ago. I've learned to keep extra elements for the oven, they go every couple years.
Tipp have you had any problems with that piece? I remember when you got it, what about 4 years ago? It is quite sexy...
Guy I work with has a big Thermador he likes. Built-in grill grates are pretty cool.
I know they're hard to find, but for a brief while Wolf made some residential ranges with non-sealed commercial burners. Where all the upper end ranges you're talking about here do between 15kbtu and 23kbtu per burner, the commercial ranges do 35kbtu. Makes a world of difference.
If you live somewhere where you won't have to worry about an inspection, just get a nice commercial range. I have an antique viking 60", 6 burner, 24" flattop, salamander, and two ovens all in pretty black enamel... 35kbtu burners, ovens that go up to 650*, absolutely no electronics on the whole unit... Brilliant. Hot burners make a real difference- I'll never go back to residential units...
Very little. My stove is on it's own propane tank- 100lbs- and I only fill it three or four times a year, so we're talking less than a couple hundred bucks worth of gas every year and I cook on it a few times a day, and usually bake three or four times a week... Whatever the pilots burn, it's negligible...
Heh - Took that pic a couple years ago when the range and pans were new. The insides of the pan still look untouched (thank you Bar Keeper's Friend!) but the outsides are getting a bit stained/scratched. No big deal.
No problems whatsoever. I do get some random sparking on the simmer setting on the rear center burner but that's more likely because of weird airflow due to the range's location in the corner rather than a design/mechanical error - if there's no flame at the sensor due to a slight breeze it will spark to ensure you're not just releasing gas.
The Electric oven (yes, it's dual fuel) is the fucking TITS. I pretty much use the convection setting for all baking/braising.
I use it every day (I'm the cook in the family) and it's awesome. Shove shit around and you don't need to worry about falling off the grate. Really precise flame control and, together with high quality pots and pans, I have yet to scorch anything!

Supposed to be the tits, waiting is the shits, that I do know. Wait on flooring, counter, a changed cabinet above the fridge...
