Abort options. Hypothetical situation, my “friend” drilled and tapped a few holes for inserts 3 years ago, and maybe some of these hypothetical holes are totally FUBAR’d for reasons not worth discussing. Now my “friend” wants to just bail, plug his holes and finally start skiing his praxis BC again with whatever bindings he can manage to mount between the cheese.
What would you recommend my friend — who is me — use to plug those holes and move on with his life? hardman yellow? Some concoction of glue, plugs and steelwool? The job will performed on a kitchen table with zero tools that currently exist in the house. Gimme the “hole plug solution for dumb dumbs” please. Thank you!

if the inserts that are more or less waterproof I would suggest your friend just leave them in the ski and try to find some solid material to screw the new mount into
for filling but not mounting into a hole i like BBQ skewers, a big bag for 3$ at safeway
for a screw I want to use to hold the binding on I like 1/2" chopped up fibreglass cloth with slowset epoxy
T-square/ tape measure/ drill & bit are the minimum supplies needed
if your friend was enough of a dumbass to fuck it up the 1st time he might redeem himself by getting it done at a shop which might also be more cost effective cuz all the supplies will cost $$$
Lee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know
1/4" hardwood dowels fit into insert holes really nicely. I've filled insert holes with ~8mm sections of dowel and G-Flex with good results.

Anyone willing to part with 16 inserts? I need to do a pair of skis, but am cleaned out from giving them away apparently. Will compensate!
Going to be running 20 unused holes (yellow) in VWerks Katanas. Snuck in one more mount (red). Thought of this thread... wish me luck.
Hello Cheese Lovers!
Quick question: I have some excessive cheese lying around and want to reset everything on those planks to do inserts for ATKs.
Tool supply and workshop is kind of limited so I guess I just pull all plastic plugs and will fill those holes with epoxy and some sawdust if I find any.
Whats my method to get the ski flat again? or do I just not fill up too much?
Thank you guys so much for all the info here, just got lost on this step!
I just use a sharp knife after it hardens
I like using a sharp wood chisel for removing volcanoes and stray epoxy, should work okay for decapitating epoxy + sawdust fill.
A Surform is the tool you need to quickly, easily, and safely flatten the top sheet after plugging holes. Cross between a block plane and a cheese grater. Less than $15 and will last for years in a ski toolbox.
So it's been a decade since I looked at inserts. I have some screw kits from binding freedom but now I see that they don't sell the kits anymore. It seems like you have to build your own order of screws. When/why did this change?
Also, are quiver killers totally interchangeable? I assume the threads are identical but you know what they say about assuming.

You can also score 100pcs SS M5 screws for about $20 on amazon (canada). That makes referencing the chart worthwhile. Hex heads though.
Quiver Killer has been way more responsive and helpful for me. Their screw kits make it way easier. I put in an order two weeks ago for a plum yak screw kit and they called me 2 hours later to verify it was definitely yaks and I wasn’t shimming. They have also sent me a couple test packs of screws at no cost when I was messing with heel shims.
the tap from BF is better, but that’s simply due to the fact it’s a SVST tap. QK has better quality control on the inserts. I had 6 inserts with no internal threads. Kinda blows when the inserts aren’t exactly cheap.
is BF owned by SVST now? Which could make sense with the non responsive and in helpful stuff. SVST sells some of the best ski tools, except the stupid jigarex, but they nearly impossible to deal with.
