Whether you have a hole conflict depends entirely on your BSL. There should be no conflict on the toepieces of baron/plum, but the heels might or might not, depending on BSL. There should be a way to make it work because there is enough adjustment in the heel of the plums to move it around a little.

Inserts or plates is your choice. both work great depending what you want

Keep in mind that Jon can machine threaded holes into a plate much closer than you can install inserts without fear of pullout. Hence why the plates work well. This is particularly evident with the toepiece for Dynafit/Plum and FKS/Pivot - it can be done by hand, but you have to be pretty careful and you only get ~1.4 cm center-to-center (IIRC).

Thanks so much for the help guys! That makes a lot of sense. I'll have to get my boots and the paper templates and double check that this is going to work. Pretty excited about being able to swap between Baron's and Tech bindings though.

I don't often agree with bobbyf, but this is 100% true. Great response.

Does anyone know if the thread pitch is the same on the screws offered by both Binding Freedom and QK? Could the screws be used interchangeably? The Binding Freedom screws look nicer to me.

Both the external & internal threads are the same.

yeah I just used QK screws (what the shop had) when replacing a heel w/BF inserts when it turned out my screws weren't sunk & the new heel plate needed them to be, they are fine

Is there anywhere in the CO Front Range where you can buy BF inserts and screws in person?

I'm not sure of a source for BF or QK inserts, but for screws, go to a good hardware store for the M5 screws.

Unless you're in Boulder (McGuckins Hardware), your best bet is Fastenall or Lowes. For most cases, pan heads and flat heads are fine (this is what QK provides). Binding Freedom uses screws that better match ski screws as you've probably seen on their website. Their screws are also posi-drive as opposed to phillips head.

Of course (for inserts), you can drive down to Terry in Durango (Alpinord - Slidewright). Oh wait! The San Juans are also shy on snow at the moment ... never mind

SlideWright is a Maggot owned company that sells everything you need for inserts.
