Dead Drunk?
Anybody have a recording of a show from the early or mid 70s where the band was really shit-faced and just about all they did the whole show was play scales? This wasn't "Tripping Dead" (I think); this was all-out "we can't hold it together so let's just move the hand up and down the guitar neck" f'd up. I heard a tape of it in 1977, so it had to be before that, and would sure like to listen to it again.

i've listened to dead air with downtown deb on klcc in eugene for close to 20 years. saturdays 7pm -9pm pacific.

she plays a lot of good stuff. i actually won the only radio show contest i've ever won on her show shortly after jerry died by identifying the source of this quote:

i was actually surprised that it lasted long enough for me to dial in. i knew instantly, just because it struck me deeply when i read it right after he died. but there were a lot wrong answers.

Not there, on the wrong coast, but had the tape in the day (83-84 timeframe). i thought the wheel was absolutely killer. Pretty much listed to it nonstop for a few weeks. Aweful lotta great shows in 82s we had tapes to. Iowa City, Baltimore, etc.

2/26/77 - just an all around top level buttery '77 with a Terrapin OPENER (first terrapin ever) and a first Estimated Prophet, silky Sugaree & TLEO. Just a really raging first set, and a great show all around. Even Donna really sounding nice. A+ quality matrix here:

Highlight is a near 45 minute Dark Star and beautiful reading of HCS. A much overlooked performance. Jerry and Bobby vocals are very good, and playing is near flawless. Also, Donna was missing.

Furthur has been playing the Abbey Road album one song at a time, tonight will be 'I want you'. Started with Come Together last Friday at The Orpheum in Boston. I can't wait to compile into a playlist when they're done.
