Help Deciding - Line Prophet 90 v. Surface Watch Life

    Hey all,

    New to the site.

I've got a "line" on these skis used. Looking for an all mountain 50/50. I've been away from skiing for 5 years. Call me an improving Advanced Intermediate. 5'11, 220 lbs. When with Family I will be hitting groomers all day, call it 80/20 on/off piste. When alone or with the buds I'll be looking to get away from the piste into the trees and some pow. I am retiring some old Elan MBXs. 90 is the max width I am looking for:

183 Surface Watch Life 07-'08 model with Jester binders great condition
179 Line Prophet 90 - have to buy binders and delay the skiing

Any input to the quality of these? Surface appeals most price and time wise. But all reviews of them are so PARK centric that it is hard to tell if they will be good for spending the day cruising groomers with the family or trees with the buds.

    Any input is appreciated.

PS - if anyone wants some Elan MBXs in 203 cm let me know

Why is 90 your max width? Where will you be skiing primarily? I have the Prophet 90s and love them, but have heard nothing but good things about the Proph 100s.. If I lived out west that's probably what I'd have- not a huge difference on the groomers and the extra width will help floatation for pow days.

Sorry, have never been on the others so can't comment..

    line vs life

not that i can say much about the life's ..... the lines are sweet , never let me down, and what you say you ski is just what there for. the big reason they may be better is the metal in the lines help with a 200 + skier . my brother rides lines with the metal , i prefer carbon stringers but im only 175 at 6'2 . he is 210 and 5'10 . if you have the weight to flex them, they pop and really spring turn to turn . ive been on the 100's and they are not as great on bumps/ ice/hard groomers as the tails are more likely to slide . i ride a elizabeth now , for the float and the heavey side cut. but one ski only / or unknown /wide range of conditions the 90 waist is a much better ski .[ i ride the blend w/ same #'s]
if the price is right you will not be sorry. and i beat the snot out of my skis
lines are bomb proof . the only issue is the tails like to lose the edges where they meet at the tip, they peel . this has only happened to my brother [3 times] we are almost sure that it is from storeing them standing on end in a dirt floor barn inside a door that does not close.
