I'm not saying that the skill is not comparable, but the terrain of the competitions in Europe blows away the North American ones by such a ridiculous amount IMO. Many of the areas held in NA are inbounds resort runs are readily available backcountry. These things in Europe are the type of the thing that one plans, practices, and prepares just to kick-turn their way down, and to see people ripping down and airing in the middle of them is mind-blowing.
this Silverton Red Bull comp right now is on the Euro level I think
Kaj is an insane monster on skis! Always looking for the most absurd line and going for it. I remember thinking I was going to witness his death while watching him ski the Whistler comp years ago. I think it was Oak on the PA trying to talk him out of where he was headed... "dude, don't go there, this isn't death skiing!"
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature... Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. -Helen Keller
