Just double checked, they're 179. But if you want them, they're yours once I find a replacement.

Speaking of which. Has anyone here tried the Tele board that Fey bros make? Is there one in Jackson area? Would be fun to try but not to own

Surprised that the quest for Danno's groomer zoomers has lasted three pages when there's infinite potential to speculate about the still unavailable Scarpa unicorn boot. Since his question still seems open, and I am busy procrastinating at work, I'd suggest the Liberty Evolv 90 - https://libertyskis.com/products/evolv-90-2024. It's been around for five or six years now and is often offered at reasonable pricing.

Check the link for construction and marketing blather. My personal take - I've skied it approx 20 days/season for several years now on east coast conditions that most of you would consider WROD, with Rottie Freeride bindings. I ski 179 cm at 175 lbs - I think it comes in 186 as well. When I destroy it, which will take a lot more work since it's pretty durable, I will replace it with another Evolv 90. It's noticeably more fun and playful than race skis that I've mounted tele - Volk Tiger, Fischer SL something or other. But it's plenty stable at any reasonable speed, including in parallel mode keeping up with younger stronger alpine skiers, and it's easy to get an edge into boilerplate (especially with a 3 / 1 degree tune). It's not my first choice for tight trees due to stiff tails that want to lock into a turnshape, but its fine and downright fun in moguls.

I suspect the predecessor groomer skis from Liberty would also be a good choice - the V86 or V92 if I remember right.

Saw a new-in-plastic Liberty Origin 96 for slightly over $300. Reading reviews makes it seem like a decent choice, anyone here skied it?

I seem to recall Mitch trying to get me to try a tele board at mammoth. Or maybe it was someone we both knew. Anyway I figured it probably combined the worst aspects of tele and snowboarding, and demurred.

Seems like a great white elephant gift though

I came really close to buying that ski a few years ago and remembered Lord Thomas having some good reviews.

Honestly, at $300 new I would probably be all over it. I remember reading a lot of reviews about how versatile of a ski it was and always kind of regretted not buying them.

I was all over it. Whipski has them in his possession now, so they'll make their way to me soon.

Not sure if it was those fey bros.

But I had a demo tele board day decades ago.
Was fun. But the voile spring bindings blew out on AV and I had to walk 2/3 back down.
They are fun. Friend does it all the time. With NTN it would be way more convenient in the lift line.

Tele snow blades sounds fun. Snowblades are fun in spring slush bumps. Not so fun at speed on groomers.

So the idea of a new to me beater/rock ski has turned into new in plastic Liberty Origin 96s mounted with nearly new Rotte Freedoms (thanks frorider!). Funny how that happens. Think this will dramatically change my early season and low tide skiing.

That is an awesome set up. So easy to ski in soft snow and they were so light for their time. That alone is reason enough to own them!

I have a pair of Mavens (189 138 underfoot) mounted up that haven't seen snow in years. I have a feeling they are a final memento of what "pow day" used to be.

Never owned the megawatt but the similar but narrower justice was sheer unadulterated joy in light powder. I can only imagine the fatter megawatt would be even more fun.

The justice totally sucked for lift served hard pack chop though. Pure powder machine.

I got so tired of trying different tele touring combinations that I finally moved to a/t for bigger bc touring with no regrets. But always a free heel outside of that. I got paranoid the other night and ordered a backup pair of TX comps after waffling and finally hitting three bourbons. Those boots will outlast me.

I do hope the new Scarpa offering pleases the tele touring crowd. However, to me it seems like such a small advancement given the number of years of discussion, speculation, and hopeful teasers.

And just so tele purists don’t think I’m a rat bastard, I also snow sealed some Alico doubles yesterday with only a handful of days on them that I found new on eBay a season ago.

This. Over 15 years ago I encountered one of the Brothers at Jay Peak, he was offering tele board demos. I opined the same sentiment as frorider above, he gave me a really dirty look. Those that are proficient at the Teleboard can turn really quickly but it seems to be a dangerous one-trick pony.

Starting to hear wishful thinking (as in not a whisper from Scarpa) that the new improved TX Comp will follow in '25 or '26. Reserving judgement.
