Sounds promising, but if this is the case they should just call it the TX Comp.

Oh man, I sure hope the flex doesn’t actually end up softer than the comp if this will be their stiffest NTN boot. Is this going to be their only NTN boot?

Signs we are getting old. We still telemark and the market assumes all we need is this three buckle bullshit. There, there old man. This boot will suit you fine.

Now I’m contemplating ordering a backup pair. 😖

Yeah, or World Cup. Just that the comp hit all right notes for me after years of trying to find the ONE. I have skied the old Shiver, but the fit was never as good as the comp.

Scarpa took 15 years of engineering thought only to figure out how to fuck things up with only one offering. Sonofa….🤬

Yes. Prognosis seems good for me. Hopefully same for you. Heal up!

How about it is just black and we just call it the Terminator like it was meant to be and call it gud? And maybe not charge $800 for it???

Include a powerwrap, no boa shit and let me get a few years and a couple of molds, don't let the bellows crack, give me a reasonable walk mode, a Vibram sole, and I'm happy even putting an aftermarket booster strap, but that would be nice.

Scarpa, BD? Are you listening? Whoah, you are! So put a heel lock down plate on it? Costs you, what, $1?

I'm lucky, I didn't spend 8 hundo on my last 3 wives (in the shoes category).

Unless they're actually discontinuing the Pros and renaming the Comps the new Pros, this will make a lot of racers unhappy. Definitely planning on ordering a back up pair of Comps soon - probably going to be a big rush.

Crispi WCs are an excellent boot - if your foot matches their last, which mine did not, especially in the toe box. Ruined a pair trying to get more room in the toe box, weakened the bellows to Scarpa Pro level.

It’s definitely looking like the only NTN offering. My gut feeling is that it won’t be as robust as the comp for bigger skis/charging. Otherwise it wouldn’t be touted as the do it all boot including for touring. There have to be compromises and those that like to charge on bigger/stiffer skis are going to get the shaft.

That should help Crispi out though. I might give the WC a go, but I got some toe pinch and heel slip with the old shivers. Not sure if the last/mold is different for the WC.

Source: not reputable and unconfirmed. Someone posted a new Scarpa catalog on telemark talk that had a 4-buckle model. Post has since been deleted.

Well maybe there is hope, us telemarkers tend to over analyze and worry excessively. The emotional nuances of a dying species I suppose, ha.

Telewhackers, I need some advice. My current hard snow/early season ski (Armada Invictus 99ti) sucks for that purpose. They were free at a time when free was important, but they are stiff AF, heavy AF, and just not fun to ski. So I need a new to me ski for that purpose (but an old beater is fine because this is a rock ski). But I know nothing about current-ish skis. Thinking something 88-95 under foot, should be able to handle groomers better than my floppy Rossi S3s or Dynastar MFree 108s, but not looking for an ice skate, it should have a little fun in it (unlike those Armadas).

I would move my old Rotte Freerides (with the metal mounting plate) to them unless they had ntn bindings already.

Are you holding something that might work? Any advice?

Used Blizzard Brahma or Bonafide would probably fit the bill and can often be found for reasonable prices. I had the non-metal Invictus 95. Super fun on soft groomers but replaced it with an OG Bonafide which is just as fun on soft groomers but handles firm and other conditions better.

This is most definitely not the "non-metal" Invictus, and is not really fun on soft groomers, and only likes to go really fast and make big turns.

If you had posted 2 months ago I would have had some potential candidates, albeit on the narrower side. If, by some chance, you're still looking around March/April next year I'll probably be unloading some skis that will only cost you the price of shipping.

The Invictus 99ti is as stiff as the Brahma and Bonafide.

What length is your 99ti Danno?

179, I think? (I am looking for something in the high 170s to 185ish length)

I don't think it would be the right ski for me under any conditions, but I am certainly not using it for its intended use, it is not a play around on groomers and the edges of the groomers ski.

will keep that in mind, I am not in a rush so it's possible, but I may not wait if something pops up. Definitely not looking to spend a bunch of money (but I suppose I would for the right candidate, especially if it had bindings too).
