Size 11 = Mondo 29. Something seems off if you can squeeze a size 11 into a mondo 27.5.
Are you running a ton of tension on the HHs? Too much torque and the boot may be flexing oddly even if the right size. I would perhaps ratchet down the tension just to see if it relives the discomfort.
Definitely not normal. You should be able to power the ski with what feels like a very fluid and natural boot flex.
I’ve never skied BD but recall some bellow discomfort w Scarpa when playing w Bomber tension years back. In general you should be able to find a sweet spot where you get tons of power but the boot still flexes naturally.
I like stiff flex given my alpine background. I run TRaces w AXLs set in the middle but mix and match stiff/standard spring in each binding.

Are we talking black big toe nail or just pain with out discoloration? Are you just being a pussy with an ingrown nail?!??!?
On a more serious note, I always had some type of pain with 75 mm Scarpas. Initially not too bad, but it progressed until my geezer declining pain threshold was demanding major changes. Switched to NTN and have had absolutely no toe pain at all, ever.
Had a friend that bought some t-races that were “race fit” in the manner that he had race fit alpine boots. Not even a finger gap when shell fitting. He constantly jammed his toes into the front of his boots on his back foot. Lost both big toe nails. Too big of boots can also hurt yer toes when getting into the back seat.
jhyatt: First thing I would have checked was shell fit. If that was OK, I would have tried new liners. If the Hammerheads are set in position 5, maybe back off a bit. If none of that works, try to find some cheap Scarpa T1 or T2 boots.
I haven't used BD boots, but I have used both Scarpa 75mm and NTN boots for many years. I am a size 11 in regular shoes, but a 11.5 or 12 in running shoes (Salomons and Hokas) -- and I easily fit in 28 Mondo in Scarpas. And I notice no significant difference in the fit or performance of my 75mm and NTN Scarpas, other than the bellows are too soft on my TX Pros.
Just a reminder for east coast pinheads that this weekend is the telemark festival at Bromley in So. VT - https://www.bromley.com/event/telemarkfestival/

Does anyone have a line on scarpa boot parts? I broke the mid step cable on my tx comp and oddly enough Freeheel life doesn’t have any in stock, nor can they acquire the part.
Gonna put in a request w scarpa today.
I think they wanted $30 when I broke mine on t1s years ago.
I swaged a loop of coated cable and it's been bomber.
It's always difficult talking about inexact stuff like shoe size as compared to mondo size, but I am normally (an inexact) size 10 and (in Scarpa boots at least) am comfortably in a 26.5/27. So it doesn't seem that strange to me that a size 11 would be in a 28. Seems weirder to me that a size 11 would be in a 29, that sounds way too big.

Your boot is too small. My brother got a tele setup a few years ago and went with his standard 27.5 alpine boot size. In Scarpa a 27.5 is a 28 shell so it should have been about a half size bigger than his Langes. He thought they were super comfy but after three full days of real skiing, his big toe was super bruised from jamming into the front of his boot. He now wears a 28.5 and has no issues.
The only real way to know if it's too small or too big is to shell fit.
Smashed toes can happen with either.

Back when shops sold Tele boots it was SOP to carpet test the boot in a ski/binding to make sure it was comfy when flexed.
Not just for the obvious reason (Tele pushes the rear foot toes a bit fwd) but some bellows didn’t feel great on all feet.
I lost three toenails because I was in a rush to change skis and ran across the parking lot in my T-1s. Didn't hurt at the time but 3 hours later ......
The NTN Scarpa toe box is roomier, and the NTN binding design/power transfer facilitates avoiding toe jam/crunch, so both.
Re sizing: I'm a 45.5 cm Scarpa shoe/hiking boot and a 11-11.5 US shoe, and my NTN boots are 29.0 MP. Seems like you're under-sized.
What kind of liners are you using? Were they baked/fitted by someone who knows their shit? I toss the stock liners immediately and go to my Intuition of choice.
That’s cuz the tx pros suck!
There. I said it
Scarpa NA just restocked their website a few weeks ago. Just got the same buckle you mention in the mail yesterday. Or I have a pair of nearly new midstep buckles for a 30.0 TX Comp that I can sell. I have a low volume foot and had to size down that buckle to get a better boot fit.
Boot sizing for me: 30.0 Scarpa NTN, 30.0 Scarpa 75 mm, 28.5 Lange alpine (back in the day), 13 US shoe size.
