Eric Hjorleifson custom Dynafit Titan Boots

So ARpowhound and I got to pick Hoji's brain a little about boots and he showed us his brain child. It was impressive to say the lease. I thought some of you might like to guess what he's done. Most modifications are pretty obvious.

ok, so for me these aren't totally obvious.
*What's the big red three-bolt thing at the bottom of the tongue?
*what's the neon green thing attatched to the bottom buckle?

The tongue is from a Krypton as well (he told us he takes the tongue completely off when touring), He added the fabric behind the tongue for waterproofing. The kid's mind is always workin'.

Impressive amount of effort put in there. Maybe one day dynafit will make a real freeride-touring boot.

Wow, super cool. I love seeing this stuff. I wonder if the ankle/instep buckle is for better retention while skiing or heel hold while skinning. The removable super-stiff tongue makes sense. My first thought was "That must be a stiff Krypton tongue and suck to tour with." But no, removable. I am impressed.

Interesting.... Is him spancered by dynafit? The supplementary tongue on an overlap boot is pretty smart

kinda sponsored. No paycheck, but gets gear as needed.

he talked to dynafit a few weeks ago, and they where not that interested in his boot for production. Cool idea, just not main stream production. Too burly for the normal dynafit crowd.

Holy shit... it's barely even a Titan anymore!

The instep buckle is the mod I'm most interested in... you can't beat it for heel hold.

That was the impression we got. Getting gear but not a total free ride yet. Especially when we told him that many of us were hanging on his video clips and web comments to help us decide what to buy. He said something to the effect of that he needed to report back to Dynafit about this. Not that all of us ski LIKE him but what he does is certainly my goal. (I mean if I were to aspire to ski like anyone.)

He didn't say anything like that, but hopefully they will. He was really stoked to hear about us following hime. I was shocked he wasn't aware. Maybe he was just being poliet but the way he talked about wanting to report back to Dynafit sounded like, "see Dynafit, I've got a following and they want what I'm putting together. Now give me some funding and lets do something cool." I would LOVE the titan with a removable tongue and more importantly a heel buckle. The titan with a heel buckle to pull you back in that cup would be the absolute.

BTW when I say we hang on Hoji's video clips and web posts, I mean it. I know several people that based their purchase of the FT12 this year based primarily on his review, I know that he influenced me. When he showed the lines he skied and the said how confident he felt in them and the Titans I pulled the trigger on both.

And for what it's worth I'm happy with the gear. (Reviews will be posted soon.)

I'm trying to figure this one out. Did he cut out the overlap in his Titan lowers? Or just put the Dalbello tongue on top of the overlap? And, does the Dalbello instep buckle screw right into the cant screws? This seems like a super straight forward and simple mod to make...if you have 4 pairs of boots to part out. Thanks for the frankenboot stoke boys!

same here. I pulled the trigger on ft12's after seeing him ski them in MSP's movie this year, and the subsequent discussion about him skiing them that took place on TGR.
