    Best phone available on Sprint?

I have sprint service, and probably want to keep it, though may go with Verizon. Looking to join the "smartphone" revolution, but don't know what the best phone is. Seems like the HTC Incredible is the phone to get on Verizon, but not sure about Sprint. The EVO? It will cost me $199, but there are some cheaper and a few more expensive.

Not having had one, it's hard to know what I will use it for, but I assume I will use it for email, web browsing, camera, various apps, GPS.

    Samsung Galaxy (Sprint Epic)

hands down. No contest. I have this phone and it is very fast and amazingly useful.
I just returned an iPad due to the fact that my new cellphone is faster and more powerful.

FYI - EVO is too large and also is not as nice of a display. Evo is fast processor, though similar to Epic

I'd say either the epic or the EVO...just depends on what features are important to you.

    Both ripping phones.

I'm confused, the Galaxy and the Epic seem to be two different phones.

Also, the Galaxy will cost me $399, the Epic $249, and the Evo $199. Price will play a role here...

Edit: looks like Sprint's site has something called the "Galaxy Tab", and that is what costs $399, but it looks to be like an ipad type of device, not a phone. So I'm assuming you're talking about the Epic and Galaxy is just another name for it?

I thought the EVO screen was supposed to be super nice? And according to Sprint, the Evo is 4.8" x 2.6" x 0.5" and 6oz, the Epic is 4.9"x 2.5"x 0.6" and 5.46oz. How is the EVO bigger?

I just bought the EVO a week ago I really like it. It came between the Epic and the EVO. I don't like the slide out keyboard on the Epic, so I went with the EVO. Either way you won't be sorry.

The Droid with a slider and the fastest processor is the one to get. My buddy got it and it is fucking sick.

Both phones are large, and not really pocket friendly. IMO HTC's user interface is better then Samsung's, but it isn't optimized for the large screen so it looks clunky compared to Incredible. Evo has a nice screen, Epic has an impressive screen. Epic has slide out keyboard, which I think is a disadvantage.

I'd skip both and go with Verizon, either the incredible or the DroidX. The incredible is cheap/free on the net with contract. You loose 4G, but it really isn't that great. Buddy has an EVO, and 9 out 10 times my Incredible smokes it on the web (around Denver). And you loose the front facing camera if that's important to you.

Also verizon is planning to have 4G phones in the first quarter, so keep that in mind before you're locked in for 2 years.

I would think a slider keyboard is better? Touch screens are hip/cool/new, but man, my Itouch can be a pain in the ass and my old blackberry is amazing.

    Disclaimer: I have an Evo.

I would pick the Evo over the Epic, unless having a slide out keyboard is very important. The Epic still has a few bugs such as a mis-functioning GPS and occasional glitches with the operating system. Neither of these things are complete show stoppers, but they do get aggravating, especially for a top of the line phone. Both of the bugs mentioned are software glitches, Samsung has failed to step up to the plate and offer support for their flagship phone.

In contrast, the HTC Evo was the first phone (short of the Google Nexus One) to get upgraded to the newest operating system (Android 2.2 on Aug 4th), Samsung is just rolling out with updates now, while the Evo is slated to get Android 2.3 within the next month and a half. Support is a pretty big deal, as each new version of Android gets additional features and additional polish (it's a quickly evolving platform).

The form factor is a preference thing. Some people prefer a physical keyboard, some people prefer the slimmer profile. Different strokes for different folks.

At the end of the day, both phones are amazing. If you're sticking with Sprint I'd choose between these two phones. They extra $$ up front is well worth having an faster Android experience, rather than get frustrated with a slow and bogged down phone.
