    Vibes for my sister please.

Turned 40 and had her 1st mammogram. Two lumps that tested positive for cancer. Dont know what stage yet, she goes to see the doc tomorrow for more details.

Healthiest living person in my family.

Vibes+++++++ Just had an aunt go through that a few years ago. They went aggressive on the treatment (considering she's in her 60's) and they seem to have taken care of it. She's been C-free for a couple of years and has grown her hair back. It can be beat, stay strong!

    Shitloads of vibes, man.

My wife went through it 3 years ago; a good friend 8 years ago, and another good friend 10 years ago. All three women are among the strongest, most upbeat people I know, which is a direct result of the ordeal. Yeah, they were all awesome before - but their outlook on life now is freaking inspiring.

I'm sure she'll get good care, and excellent advice from all quarters, so feel free to ignore this, but the one thing that seemed to get my friends through was a rabid adherence to exercise. Chemo can knock you out, and you don't feel like moving at all, but all of these girls refused to sit down and take it - they rode, ran, did whatever they could to keep the body strong. If anything, it really helped with their mental health, and I'm convinced it helped the body heal quicker too.

Is she married? If so, be sure to reach out to her husband, he's gonna be rocked by this too. I know that I took it harder than my wife did - I was grateful for some friends who had been through it before, who talked me off the ledge more than once.

    Mega vibes coming her way...

Vibes for you and your sister. My mom (who beat it twice and just hit five years in remission) and several of her friends are living proof that your sister will be okay.

++++vibes++++ That sucks! I had my sister go in for a major surgery earlier this year and that was not a fun experience. First time I ever saw her husband look scared.

Let us know what we can do to help stoke the fires of motivation for her when the going gets tough... I'm not above sending her naked pix of myself.... okay, that would just make it worse. Much worse.

This great advice. My wife was daignosed 3 1/2 years ago and is now cancer free. She was 40 and had her first mamogram, too. 2 spots so she chose to have a masectomy. Used to D's but is now a perfect C. Get a good plastic surgeon to help hr feel like a women again after this.

The caregivers are in a tough spot. you have to keep your game face on to show them you are not scared while inside you are scared shitless with might happen. A great source to help you thru this is Immerman Angels in Chicago. They pair up survivors with fighters to help them understand what they will be going thru. They do the same with caregivers. I think the website is www.immermanangels.org. They have volunteers all over the country. Also team up with the Live Strong Foundation.

Please feel free to pm me if you want someone to talk to. I'll give you my phone number. My wife would be more than happy to talk with your sister anytime.

    Thank you everyone.

Still need details, she is scheduled to see a surgeon monday i think. But the size alone puts her at least stage 2.

Sad, she and her husband were married only 6 months ago, bought their first house together etc..She works out everyday, a vegetarian, runner etc...

Her attitude is great, she has great doctors, insurance, young and fit so we will see where this goes int he next week or so.
