    how do I web-cast a wedding?

my brother is getting married new years eve

my parents can't make it (long story)

i would like to try and web cast the wedding so they could watch it...any advice on how to do this?

would have to be low-tech since my parents are of the age where operating their laptop is possible only if nothing ever goes wrong

skype + use a peripheral web cam?

    thanks for any help

If you want to do the web cam- probably a computer with one built in or attached and mounted for the event, then yes Skype should be able to handle the software side of things.

However where is this being held? A hotel or somewhere that Wifi is available? If not then you have to have some sort of decent high speed internet- if there is none available then possibly test for 3G or 4G cellular service from a cellular carrier and do a cell phone tethered or a cellular data card or USB on the computer.

We used ustream (www.ustream.com), which has the benefit (over Skype) of making it easy to let as many people watch as you want. I had a number of out-of-town relatives that couldn't travel, and this worked well.

The setup is a little confusing, setting up the channel, the program, etc, but it's very easy for the viewers to do what they need to do.

Just go and record any wedding and then post it on YouTube, send the link out and tell people to watch it at the specific time... they won't know the difference since they're all the same anyway.

    okbye
