Reinforced Edge Guards on ski pants. Or not.

Scored a pair of the new North Face Bizzo Pants. Write up on the website includes Reinforced Edge Guards as a feature. Upon inspection, there is no such thing on mine, they look pretty thin down there. I contacted TNF and they confirmed that no, despite the claims on their website, there are no Reinforced Edge Guards on these.
    So what to do?
    1) For $12 I can score some 1000d Cordura and either have it sewn on or use some kinda adhesive.
    2) I can just go ahead and ski 'em and hope I'm not too sloppy with my edges too quickly.
    3) They're still new with tags, I got 'em cheap so could definitely make my money back if not a bit extra if I unload 'em.

Anyone got any experience with #1, advice or opinion?

from someone who is super hard on their pant cuffs i say bail and get a pair that has beefy OEM guards.

I just went through a variation of #1 and there is some relevant info in[ame="http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205469"] this thread[/ame]. I'll try to get pics and findings up but the take away is homemade edge guards will work OK but not really worth the time effort especially for BRAND NEW pants.

I have cordura patches sewn onto the inner ankles of some older HH pants that had become shredded. So far I'm on my 2nd set of patches. I'd say the first set of patches lasted aprox 2 seasons.

I had my seamstress double up on the cordura so there are acctually 2 layers and I had her double stitch them.

Then she let me der pooperhausen.

Make sure to add rocker to the edge guards or they won't work with most new school skis.
