    Irish Car Bomb Shot Ski

Has anyone ever attempted to make an Irish Car Bomb Shot Ski? I have an old beat up 190 Katana that would be perfect for a four person or maybe even five person car-bomb-ski.

I have a set of these brackets that I use on a traditional shot-ski: http://www.shot-ski.com/Shop_for_Shot-Skis.php

I was thinking about taking this design a step further and just making bigger brackets for pint glasses. I think that purchasing some sheet metal, cutting it, bending it and then painting it or getting it powder coated would be fairly straight-forward. But I just don't know where I'd find the right sized rubber gaskets for the pint glasses.

Anyone ever tried this or have any ideas for resources?

honestly, i'd just go for pint glasses and gorilla glue. scuff up the areas where you plan to put the glasses with a little sandpaper, throw some glue on the bottom, and whammo. save a lot of wasted time and effort.

I'm sorry, but as of today, you'll need to get the European Union's approval for your little gem of an idea.

There's a "board bomb" floating around the bar at Magic Mountain. I can't take credit for it, but I have seen it in action. It works well for its intended purpose.

Our shot-ski in school used machined shot glasses that were just screwed to the ski. Don't use glass, have someone machine a pint glass out of aluminum or stainless steel and just mount it to the ski. It'll make those glass shot ski's look lame.

I have not seen this happen before but we were joking around about this exact thing the other day - great idea. I see that you are in BTV - if you can pull it off between now and December 1, bring it to the Higher Ground and we will a) try it out with you and b) let you in for free to the premiere of Jeremy Jones' Deeper.

Look forward to testing it out if you git er done.

    Already done.

Slash at Magic has one he calls the "Bomb Board" because he's a boarder and it's on a slowboard. Works good, but is generally messy for all but the fastest.

    So yeah... Do it. Awesome.

my car bomb ski is half done as of tonight. I only have two sets of clamps big enough for the pint glasses so I'm hoping to get the other two done tomorrow night. shouldn't be a problem.

that's hazardous, and kind of rad...

you should have a little quick-release mech. to drop 4 shots in simultaneously... that'd be raddest!

Were you sourcing out glasses on facebook last week for this? If so I know you and didn't realize you had a screen name here DT. Make sense as I don't know too many people out that way making a car bomb ski.

I got given one as a birthday present.

It is pretty hard to use, but cool nonetheless.

Seriously, this can’t turn into yet another ON3P thread....

looks cool, but they seem to be too close together on the ski. you'd have to all turn sideways to use it and it's hard to drink fast when your neck is contorted like that.

i epoxied these guinness pint glasses to a 190cm (really 186cm) Katana. They're about 21" apart each which should be plenty of room to consume a well made Irish Car Bomb. I just epoxied on the second set of two glasses this morning since I only have enough clamps to do two at once, so it should be set by tonight or tomorrow. Hoping my voice and throat are back in time for the Deeper premiere at Higher Ground tomorrow night, not to mention healthy enough to drink car bombs. Man I'm gettin' old.

I have a fully functioning '5 banger' shotski, with holes drilled and plastic shot glasses that "screw" in. I'd like to refinish and repaint the ski though...any ideas on how to do that?

They are. You can only use 3-4 of the glasses, I just haven't taken the time to pop the other few off yet. We have yet to actually try to use all at once, but as you can imagine, I don't see that ending well...

version 1.0 of the bomb-ski using epoxy didn't work out so well. the epoxy never really cured even months later and so all the glasses came off.

i finished version 2.0 tonight after much research and planning. i found some large rubber grommets from a company online. when they arrived, I had a friend make these beefy metal plates with holes to the spec of the grommet with the guinness pint glass inside. i then used some 3" long machine screws to attach the plates to the ski at the proper height to hold the glasses in place. I can turn the ski over completely and the glasses stay put. I'll be giving this it's first test run this weekend with my friend who made the plates as I promised him we'd christen it together. very stoked.

Hah awesome. We've been planning an Irish Carbomb ski out ofa broken Lotus 120 190. Our plan is to use 4 plastic pint glasses we bought and screw them onto the ski through the base. This will make them removable, but not puncture the actual glass. Also, plastic is lighter.
