Primus played at our local venue last year. Best show I have seen there so far.

Les Claypool and company always bring the heat live.
Primus are stellar musicians with a cool and quirky vibe.
If you like exquisite bass playing and off-kilter jamming they are a blast.
I have never seen a bad show in all the years I have caught them live and I’m just a casual fan.

Our musician friend told us to definitely go, so we are. Listening briefly they are different, but I like the heavy bass they have going on. Maybe I should eat mushrooms.

Also these Primus shows should be interesting as they are breaking in a new drummer…

Primus is about the closest thing to a jam band that I will listen to.

I'd take Les/Primus over Trey every day of the week. And so I probably will on that particular day, too.

I'll add that if anyone is curious about Primus live, check out Suck on This. One of the better "produced" live albums out there and gives you a good feel for their live sound and vibe. The YYZ intro is pretty indicative. My personal favs are Tommy the Cat, John the Fisherman and Harold of the Rocks. And I say unto thee...

I saw oysterhead at the Greek in Berkeley. I thought it sucked because of the sound quality. I could see claypool tearing it up but all I could hear was wet mumbly low frequency sounds.

Last I looked online at primus’ upcoming tour dates, they were playing 2 dates in a row in Sacramento. Every other city was only a one night stop.

Btw, strawberry music festival is going on this weekend. Can listen to it live on kvmr.org.

Most insane show I have ever seen with regard to moshpit/crowd/chaos was Primus in Tijuana in 1991 or 92. I will be at one of their upcoming Sacramento shows. Recent shows I have caught, Sturgill, Sierra Ferrell, Hermanos Gutierrez, Morrissey. Seeing Jack white and Goose next week

Butthole Surfers came to mind immediately.

Holy fuk that mightve been too much. With hot vegas strippers dancing instead of the usual gnar skanks on blotters.

Hoo yes. I will take 2, please.

Yeah, finally a venue is trying to get a summer lineup to look forward to. Oddly, some of those have already been big headliners here.
Ozomatli topped the Rendezvous fest some years ago iirc.

Big Head Todd played the Mangy Moose a few times bitd.

Primus opened for LBD all stars in the new Snow King center back in 1996?

Anyone go to the Tom Petty show in the base area parking lot? That was stellar.

Violent Femmes in the Snow King Ballroom? That was almost too much, what with the acid and all.

At the base of the King, they set up a stage on the parking lot asphalt and everyone just stood/sat wherever they liked on the upsloping grass.

It began to drizzle steadily and everyone put up their hood and kept on keeping on. It got a little breezy and I thought for sure that theyd stop due to electricities.

Nope, played on. Flawless set in the rain.

If Ive seen 500 shows in my life, that was top 5.

Wife and I saw Petty at the Fillmore West in 1997 during his "residency" there. Best concert experience I have ever had, by a long shot. We also saw him in 2014 (late Sep/early Oct) in the rain - also a fantastic show. Tom and the Heartbreakers were consummate entertainers...

I've told this story before sorry - The night before or after that Willie did a private JXN show to raise money for something or other at the Jackson Land and Cattle Ranch. The Montana and Wyoming governor were there, the MT governor Brian was a real cowboy and put on a show roping and cutting. After the horsie show and a nice lil' dinner Willie came in (very late) for an hour-ish outdoor concert and maybe a hundred or so people were there, sitting on hay bales as he played under the stars. I was working the stage event and not the fundraising part so I got to watch the entire show. He's pretty decent!

I saw Willie kick a free show at the Bay Street Tower Records in San Francisco in the early 1990s.
    He was rad.
Dunno why I never saw him live again after that.

    My Outlaw Country/Real Country regrets:
I never saw Johnny Cash (dunno why I skipped his Fillmore American Recordings shows in SF when I lived there).
    I never saw Kris Kristofferson.
I never saw Buck Owens at his Crystal Palace in Bakersfield (and I had several offers to do so, but passed on all of them).

I did manage to interview Merle Haggard for a now defunct skate mag and then saw him live at a rickety old auditorium in San Francisco. He was a cool cat..

And I managed to see Shooter Jennings a coupla times. When he’s in Country mode he rocks. Never saw his pops or his mom, though…

These SF shows seem to be a money grab, but the city fees are probably thru the roof. Who knows.
Had three friends try to get tics today to no avail. Ticketmaster still sucks.

Not sure about the city fees since they are piggy backing off outside lands infrastructure. If anything, it felt like the city was cutting them some slack for the anniversary and that it wasn’t a concert set up from scratch but idk
