Can't wait for a proper musical act to play the Sphere. Not looking good for the rest of '25 unfortunately.

Proper, eh?
Well, a few of these acts will definitely not be showing up at Sphere.![]()
I mean the show was pretty good, the band sounded good. The Sphere itself and what they do with it was pretty f'n amazing and I can't really imagine that anybody else will do it better than Dead & Co. in the near future so I'd say it's worth it. Staying at the Palazzo it's barely even like you're in Vegas, I walked through the casino a couple times but didn't even put a bet down. And there are some good restaurants there for sure.
Not even one?
I'm not much of a gambler. But my buds a whale and just a blast to gamble with.
We closed out Van Morrison at Caesar's February 2020. I caught Covid from a Chinaman at the Blackjack table.
But I'm sure I'll still end up at the Sphere eventually.
Well I was gonna but I might have been high or something.
Well, you have to amortize the ticket price loss with the sheer amount of dollars being spent all over town, I guess. But yeah, if we get a nice little recession, that won’t be a very attractive asset to be holding.

Saw Backstreet Boys are doing a residency. I have a friend who is recently divorced and in his 40's. I told him he should go just hang out in Vegas after a few of those shows let out and bang a bunch of middle aged MILFs. That should help him blow off some steam and cheer him up.
They said the place cost $2.3 bn to build so I'm sure the nut on that is substantial. AI says the average ticket price is $323 and the place fits over 20K people so the gate is over $6 mn for a sellout. I think their problem is there aren't enough acts that people will travel there and fork over the cash to see. I looked at their upcoming schedule a few days ago and about all I saw was Kenny Chesney and Back Street Boys and I don't think that's gonna cut it.
I think Phish would be a show I'd consider going to the sphere for, but I cannot think of another band.
Do they still allow smoking in Vegas bars? Probably, eh. That drove me batshit crazy my last work trip to that dump.
Turkey and the Wolf is gonna open there soon, a great sandwich place from New Orleans. Voted best new restaurant in 2017 by Bon Apetit. Collard green melt is amazing even tho it sounds weird. I bought his cookbook after eating it. Mason is also opening his N.O. Rise and Shine breakfast joint which was closed when I went so no idea if it's good but it will be decent - both in the venetian though.

As for the Sphere making money, conferences rent out the sphere for private parties, that's also gotta be a good money maker for them.
And speaking of the Dead, they just announced via an email my wife just got that they are going to be three nights at the start of August at Golden Gate Park, one night with Billy Strings, one night with Sturgill Simpson and one night with Trey and his band, so that's something to consider I guess.
You don't like Sturgill? He's pretty great.
If Dead and Co was the opening act all 3 nights that would be pretty aight. Zero chance of that though Im sure.
