I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.
Early Red Butte on-sale today for that show if you're a member. Love that they are starting with some pretty out there bands, and not standard dad rock.

We caught the Futurebirds last night in Boulder on a whim. Didn't know their music very well, their live performance blew us away. Highly recommended. Think they are wrapping up their ski tour at Jackson next.
go see Dirtwire

Caught Future Islands last night in Salt Lake. Phenomenal show, with a much younger crowd than I am used to or was expecting. People talking during live music, what the fuck.

Anyone else here going to Cruel World this year?

Future Islands was amazing in that the vocalist (and the whole band for that matter) felt like a modern day Elvis. Everything was perfectly timed and choreographed, and the vocalist's range is even more impressive in real life. Don't expect any guitar solos or anything "off script" at all. The bassist barely moved an inch, and the keyboardist looked like he was getting his kid's school lunches packed. The vocalist, however, was dropping to his knees in the most dramatic pantomiming ever, growling and never breaking eye contact with the audience.
I'm 35 and I felt very old there. Still danced my ass off and had a ton of fun.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Run The Jewels - note the little kid doing the RTJ hands (mimicking the the inflatable hands above the stage)
Pixies before they got cut off and we walked a half hour in a torrential downpour to our car
The Melvins was high on my list of must-see-before-I-die so I skipped the night-before Future Islands show at the same venue. I showed up at 8:30 and got a great spot - the drums didn't look right though. Hmmmmm. So the band came on and it was the headliner. Mr Bungle, so I fucking missed The Melvins! They were done by 8:30pm.
If you don't know Mr Bungle they are 'out there' - but they put on a great show so I stayed. The singer is Mike Patton from Faith No More and one guitarist is Ian from Anthrax and the drummer is also from Anthrax - but Mike and the other current band members formed Mr Bungle in high school. Mike got a guy on stage to dance and tried to make out with him, most likely to piss off any Mormons in the crowd as they played "La cucaracha" - classic Mike, I guess?
That great place I was standing at to see the Melvins ended up being on the bleeding edge of a rowdy mosh pit for Mr Bungle, ha. I'm too old for that but it woke me up real quick!
Dunno if you heard, but the show got shut down due to lightning warning.
Iggy Pop and Siouxsie Sioux did a make-up gig on Sunday night.

RTJ is one of my favorite hip hop acts of all time. Saw them when they were touring RTJ1 at urban lounge and it was phenomenal. They have such good chemistry together.
