10,000 Maniac's Saturday night. The new singer isn't Natalie, but she's dam good and plays a mean electric fiddle.

Umphrey's McGhee on Saturday night at the Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD. Intense -- almost overpowering. I was exhausted after the show. build...Build...BUILD...bridge... repeat.

Saw Greensky Bluegrass the other night. I was pretty impressed. Yonder still has them beat on songwriting but these guys are better at high level jamming.
May have to catch Umphrey's when they come through here Tipp. They sound fun.

Just bought my Widespread tickets for Reno on March 30th. Who's gonna be there? Might take a few laps in the Tahoe region on March 31st(not sure where yet, have to figure out where I get a discount with my Bird pass).
I saw them in St. Charles, IL, they play tonight in IA.
They have about 10-15 more shows ending in Vegas.
They were really good!
Saw 3 shows in the last 4 days... Tool, Umphrey's McGee, and Allman Brothers. Wow.
Just wow.
And the clocks move ahead... Nicely done.
The Allman Bros., Beacon, 3/19/14...
Allman Bros. really know how to throw a party. What a great show. Signature. NEVER EVER seen a trombone player bring down the house like that.

^ I was there. Nothing like it.![]()
Nice vantage point... I was watching that corner now and again. Looked like a good time over there for sure. I would love to do it again. Do you know how much the set list changes up from show to show, or is it mostly set?
^^ Goin again tomorrow...
So my friend says, you gotta go see this Umphreys McGee your gonna dig em. Some of the studio stuff fell short for me (please recommend a good studio album ??). Saw them tonight in SLC. Sweet mother were they good! Incredible musicianship. Sonical goodness. Super tight band, like nofx but jam band style.... Best $20 concert ever!!!
Don't mind the pole...
Sorry about the crappy cellphone viddys, surprised how well the sound came out.
Yep it's over 7 minutes long...
I wanted to see Umphry's at the Belly Up Tuesday, but I had to leave town Monday.
Jimmy Vaughn, Stevie Rays older brother, is playing at my local club tonight. I really want to go and my wife can't. How good is this guy? Talk me into going solo.
Jimmy can play the axe and harmonica rather well.
Heading out of the house now to see the DBTs at the 930 club.
You sir, are a DICK. so bummed that they arent making a stop in SLC.
"If we can't bring the mountain to the party, let's bring the PARTY to the MOUNTAIN!"
Honestly I thought the Truckers were a little flat. They also played Saturday night and seemed a little tired after going 'til 130am. Also not a fan of Hood and Cooley taking turns every song, hard to get any rockin' cohesion going.
Blitzen Trapper opened for them. Never seen those guys before and they were great. definitely going to check them out next time they headline. Lead singer has an amazing voice.
Thanks, was curious how it went...I guess the alternating is something related to how English Oceans came out/was put together? When I saw Patterson solo a month or so ago it seemed like he was taking it easy on his voice, not getting growly like he used to. Guess i'm glad I got a ticket for the first of their two nights in New Orleans, however it's easy to overextend in that town so it may not make any difference....
Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.
Patterson Hood of the DBT's
Yeah I'm looking forward to your take on it. The new album is pretty much 50/50 Hood & Cooley and they seemed to want to continue that for the tour. My problem is that Cooley's songs used to be a great re-set or interlude between some down & dirty 3 guitar attack jams. There was almost none of that last night.
New keyboard player/3rd guitarist is solid, as is the bass player. The latter is an awfully feminine looking kid, arguably more attractive than Shonna... not like that's hard to be tho![]()
Greg is sick, the remaining 4 Beacon Shows are cancelled.![]()
