    APPS

i found a couple threads but they're all specific to skiing which doesn't really need apps beyond weather, snow reports, and trail maps. but what about everything else? of alllll your apps, which ones do you use the most, are the most fun, or would miss the most?

    Blackberry Apps:

    Opera - Web
    Pandora, Grooveshark, Music - Tunes
    Google Maps - Navigation, Reviews
    Messages: Email, Texts, BBMs

But the ones I would miss most would be the Phone and Clock app...

I think of my phone as a tool, not a toy. If I want to have fun I get on my bike, skis, ps3, or go out with friends.

    Thanks Nick!^^^

Anyone else got any useful everyday apps for their Blackberry?

Ive never really explored BB apps as my phone is mainly a phone(plus the ability to do email, IM and whatnot). But Id love to use my phone for more than the basics.

Also, does anyone know why some BB apps work for only some of their phones and others for all? I just upgraded to the 9100 a couple months back btw.

right now, desktop web browsers are by far my favorite and most-used apps. i still use desktop spreadsheets quite a bit---the first killer app.

Backcountry Navigator for android. It is an offline mapping app that allows you to download all kinds of topo maps for free, and allows you to use them offline (ie, no cell signal) effectivly turning your phone into a GPS. Great for backcountry skiing. I have all my routes pre-loaded and can use it to navigate new ones. I think it costs about $10, but thats much cheaper than a $300 garmin...

This is a good thread. I've been wondering the same thing lately but didn't want to take the time to search online. Collectively as a community it seems like we weed out the crap at a much better rate. Thanks Grape Drink.

I have been looking for an app like The North Face app but for Android. Basically all snow reports and avalanche reports all rapped into one app. Not many good apps for skiing that I have found on the Android market.

Reeder, Instapaper, GV Mobile+, Dropbox, Evernote. There's a ton. Jailbreak apps are the ones that I use the most though. Stuff that apple should have included in the first place, like Lockinfo and BiteSMS.

Anyone have a similar app for BB? Just a topo app with a gps dot would be killer.

ESPN scorecenter is fucking money for saturdays, I also love remote at home, and the netflix app for watching vids in class. The comcast one is kind of cool (when it works, kind of buggy) because you can set your DVR from anywhere.

My friend really likes using one of those iPhone universal remote apps in sports bars to change one of the TVs to his favorite game, but he gets caught and kicked out pretty frequently.

Since it sounds like you have not specified a phone (IPhone, Droid, Blackberry are tops in Smart phones right now):

Product Barcode Scanner app- to scan an item you are thinking about purchasing and scans web sites for the cheapest price- even if it is just to do a price match.

Wipe Data- allows you to remotely erase personal data and contents of the phone if lost.

    Weather, Stocks and sports scores

Facebook or Twitter if you use them

GPS and maps- really depends on needs- driving and roads, trails, run or cycling training routes, etc.

For my iPad I just got vWave-lite which is a control surface app that is used to replace a hardware "Color" control surface. Ting is fucking sick. Lose tactile feel of a real control service but since they can cost $5k plus, it is nice having a free version. To all fcp editors who do CC in color and have an iPad this app is a muct have!

Theodolite Pro - computes slope angles, distance, compass bearings, gps coords and elevation
