Any physio/PT/exercise people have any experience with the Technogym Crossover machines? It's has that side-to-side, lateral movement that tends to have the same feel of shifting weight when skiing. Any thoughts on it?
I've got bad knees (multiple surgeries for osteochondritis dissecans and torn meniscus) with a pending op at some point in the next year or so on another torn meniscus. This is the only cardio machine that seems to 1) Target my whole body, especially lower and core; 2) Provides my legs the same burn I get from skiing; 3)most importantly, not drive the torn meniscus, or my knees entirely, crazy.
I'm getting fat and older, and running is just too much on my knees. I'm bored with bikes, stairmasters, and ellipticals. And I need something that can get me in shape (at least for ski season ).
Just looking for any corroborating info/thoughts on this machine or type of machine. Seems to be working for me, but you all know a lot more about this stuff - any thoughts?
I’m Giulia from Technogym, Italy! Thanks for your question. I think it is very useful not only for you but for all users with the same knees problem. Crossover is a unique cardio product with an innovative movement that combines two concepts, lateral movement and total body training. It’s very easy to use. It allows a rhythmic and engaging training! Moreover Crossover engages more and different muscles and upper body action combined with shifting center of gravity create a torso rotation and core activation.
According to our scientific and medical studies lateral training on Crossover doesn’t hurt users’ knees. Infact, Crossover will help you to maintain the correct alignment of your lower limbs. The motion designed for the pedals cues the correct alignment of the hip, knee and ankle.
If you are interested we can give you a Biomechanical analysis in the development of a new cardiovascular equipment done for Cardio Wave, but they both work with the same angulations of the pedals. The conclusion of this study is that training with wave or crossover does not hurt knees but on the opposite the training it’s a good help to some pathologies as valgism?
