I have health insurance and make big turns in eathtones and I always ski with a whippet cause i'm a Kore mountaineer bro. dont worry bout Maynerd gnar with the exception of the 1/2 dozen touring partners he hates everybody and most everything in the wasatch.
Headed up a large bcc slidepath to poke around my happy place that I named the furkid after, with a telechica friend. Both nw and ne colis are a bit bony ne looked good cept a large boulder in lower choke yet. Not much snow on the w aspect up to the peak fuck skinin on a foot of sugar on top rocks booted a large part of it. Good turns down ne ramp a little whippersnappity on last pitch. a few tracks on c mitt otherwise no instabilities or turn cop mellow harshers noted.

smooth and creamy up high on north slopes this morning while crusty like a noddle turner down low on a lrg slide path off kessler this morning. this slide path needs more snow though to truly be worth the effort, still fun.

<rant>I was thinking this year's thread on this forum was going pretty good until the BMF vs Noodler crap. I don't care what side anyone's on, the barking is a turn off to me. Bummer. Back to the re-run of the Victoria's Secret X-mas Special</rant>

I'm flying into SLC tomorrow and hanging out until 1/5, gf is working up at alta! I'd love to meet up with some of you guys to ski, and hopefully I'll bring some of the good vibes from ullr that have been hitting the east coast over the past few days!

anyway, i'm game to ski pretty much any day, so if you're looking for a partner, pm me!

some stoke to share from gpetrics and I from the recent "VTah" snow we've been having back east:

Skied some NE shots above 9k in Cardiff today with MyPetPowderGoat. Mixed bag up there
wind jacked snow, creamy fast pow, sun crusts down lower and graupel.

And here I was thoroughly entertained.

Well, hell, we knew roge'd check in.

That traverse looks sketch Would guess mjk cut it but, everyone knows, no trail breaking.
I'm thinking eddie and wow are one and the same. A lotta time on you're hands, glew? Personality disorder?
So disappointing the "beater" hasn't pulled up stakes and headed for the east coast where it snows. They appear to be in desperate need of avi experts.
Oops, my mistake. Roge is there and he knows snow

You know those little guide books they have so that JONGS can find the shit that's not on the trail map?

Do they have anything like that for Snowbird, or the Wasatch in general? Is "The Powder Hound's Guide to Snowbird" any good?
Please don't throttle me for asking a little JONG question, at least I'm not bragging about the snow in New Hampshire

    It was VT.

Regardless looks like a little weather disturbances will race through the 'satch over the next 24-36 on a westerly flow. Not a ton of instability in the atm so I don't think we get mega totals cranking. Prob. best guess is a foot by late saturday- maybe a little more up toward the ID border.

This is exactly what the local "forecasters" are calling for as well...just need a refresher anyway....cover the old tracks and smooth everything out.

Coming in cold or warm if you can tell? I'd like high density stuff please.

look, i get it, it sucks skiing in vermont and on the east coast in general, so all you daydream and read about conditions in other threads. I saw that it snowed there recently because you posted one of the people from vermont posted the same pictures in a thread so aptly named "VTah". we might be called utards but that doesn't mean we are actually retarded, if we want to look at your great day in vermont, we can go to that thread. really its not that hard, but posting pictures of another area besides of an area in utah in the wasatch conditions thread is RETARDED! great, it fucking snowed more than 6 inches for the first time in 20 years in vermont! great you started its own thread to showcase the goods that were had, but why do you all you east coasters constantly feel the need to cunt up the wasatch conditions thread with pictures from an area not named the wasatch baffles me.

STOP POSTING PICTURES FROM AREAS NOT IN UTAH IN THIS THREAD! YOU ARE CUNTING UP THIS THREAD! THIS THREAD IS TO INFORM PEOPLE ON THE CONDITIONS IN THE WASATCH AND OTHER AREAS LOCATED IN UTAH! YOU CAN START YOUR OWN THREAD TO SHOWCASE YOUR SWEET PICS FROM VERMONT OR YOU CAN POST IN THE EAST COAST ROLL CALL THREAD!

i know this is a crazy concept......

On those big tours, you always gotta stop for lunch.
Still some gooood snow out there. Wind swept west facing upper elevation around 11K got so warm the other day, now its impenetrable neve on high ridgelines. Even skinning crampons didn't fly... shoulda brought the real ones. Snowboard boots just bounce.

Went up with plans to ski Suicide Chute this morning but turned back about halfway up due to declining visibility and increasing wind transport. The 1 in. reported was deceptive as the wind had already blown in snow thigh deep in places. Quick pit seemed to indicate weak stability in the top 6 inches as expected based on the wind, which given the terrain was enough for us to call it and head down. Ski conditions were good though, even on the south facing apron, and no instability or significant sluffing was noted on the descent.

My useless obs in a thread of butthurtism.

My three leg dog can do a handstand and elevate his hind leg to piss on stuff. It's cool to see. I'm proud of him.

This thread, like the one on T-tips, has only face value. Take it for what it's worth. The world doesn't revolve around it.

About 4-6" during the day at the Bird, snow is still coming down but much lighter now. Probably a few more inches over night.....

Was blowing pretty hard during the day (tram & few other lifts closed early) and is still cranking....fingers crossed for tomorrow...

Update: about 12" all in through the night. Today was awesome but windy as fuck. Tram hasn't run all day, moonlight was the be early on. Ended up traversing/hiking over to Gad which isn't opening till next weekend. Snow was windblown super deep in spots.

Overall a great 1st day out wind and altitude ass-kicking not withstanding.....
