I dunno. The whole 70mph in reverse thing has me thinking they did that for thousands of miles to roll back the odumeter.

    Jk. I'd totally hit it.

Someone in here was posting recently about briefcase style camp stoves. This Camp Chef came on sale at Amazon - $77:

    20K BTU per burner.

Dang! That's a deal. But does it simmer easily? Mine, of a different brand, is hard to set to medium or low. Great for boiling water quick, not so great for cooking.

Is it because of gas flow or wind? If I want to simmer on my stove, I have to setup a pretty good windblock or the low flame will go out even from just a slight breeze.

Good point, but it's gas flow IMO. I'll pay more attention to wind though next time, I've only used it a few times.

I have this stove and really like it. Yes, it simmers well and is easy to adjust - this stove has much better burners than a Coleman or any of the other brands. They're shaped / shielded better to direct the flames upward so they don't go out when simmering.

I have had one of those Camp Chef Everest stoves for a few years. It’s a great stove. That’s a hell of a deal.

I came to that realization this summer solo car camping with my dog. Pulled into camp, drank some whiskey and smoked a little and just decided to sleep in the back. So nice the next morning not having to deal with a wet tent. Just pack the camp chair and go!

I bought some window screens and next thinking Of adding some rain deflectors to vent in the rain/snow.

Question for the van crowd: Against my better judgement I've fitted my rig with an external water inlet. I silicone'd the fuck out of the interface between the bezel and the van body, but there's still a 1mm gap between it and the van body. I'm worried about water ingress. Is there a standard procedure for sealing these things? Using something like this:

I have the upgraded version of that stove (everest 2x) and it simmers easily. That's the reason I bought that model after reading several reviews pointing that out. I really like it and even think that it's power is overkill for my use.

I've been looking for a new stove, good reviews so I'll pull the trigger.

Flippo - do you have more pics of your drawer setup?

I built it after watching that video
My truck bed is shorter so, I had to adjust few things. I replaced the stove burners + plancha by a 2 stove burner (I already had a small webber gas bbq) and I did not built the pressurized water system. This video helped me too: Overall, I am happy with it but I took me more time than I thought

May be this should be in Adventures under the Hood but here goes. Unlike most RVs, we use ours on the winter with lots of exposure to salt, gravel, etc. What are folks using for corrosion protection?

    POR-15.

    Degrease first.
    Then prime/etch.
    The apply the stuff.

Put a top coat of paint on it too and you'll never worry about rust again.

You talking about the undercarriage in general? Lanolin based products are the standard, https://www.amazon.com/Undercoating-...07W6B5MHF?th=1. Just slather it on with a brush annually on springs, axles, etc etc.

If you’re talking about a painted area like a rocker panel, use the POR 15 and paint over it.
