    Volkl Kuro sizing

Details: Advanced skier, (used to be expert, but age does it's thing), age 61, 5'7", 170#, Oregon skier who finds big powder at Anthony Lakes, sometimes Bachelor. Just retired a pair of Salomon 1080 Guns and am looking at the Kuro's. I'll also use them on groomers once in awhile. Mid 170's or mid 180's? Thanks for your input.

My buddy is about your size..... a little younger and a little lighter

He rides the 185s just about everyday at Meadows, loves em

Have fun up there, they will change what and how you ski, and change is good

I think the 175 will be fun, short and quick. The 185 will be more stable, but still ski like a 180. What size were teh 1080's?

Volkl measures short so 185 is really 178-180 and with rocker its shorter. However, I skiied 185 and it was right size for me. six-2 18o. With fatter you can go shorter IMO
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

I agree shorter is a more forgiving, providing a less tired 61 y/o at the end of day. My pops(58, 5'10", 160lbs) rides 169cm Seth's as his everyday patrolling ski and I can't get him to add any length.

You could probably handle them at 185. If you think you are going to be more in the trees making short quick turns then maybe go with 175.

I would recommend 185 for the extra stability, the reverse camber makes them as stable as a pair of pot lids when going straight on harder snow. Put them on edge and they are OK though..

I demo'd the 185 at mt hood meadows two years ago on a powder day. They felt pretty much perfect for me (5' 10" 180lbs). I had no problem turning them quick in the trees at meadows.

I might part with a pair of 185's if you want used ones. Just scored some Spats so the Kuro's may have to go.

Tell us what length 1080 Guns you skied.

Also, was it the first "1080 Gun", which was just a Pocket Rocket with new graphic and name (90mm underfoot)? Or was it the 2nd-genration and beyond "1080 Gun" which was fatter than 90mm underfoot?

for your height, I'd say go w the 185's. They ski short.
