What a departure from the opening to last season. Tearjerker. Can't wait to see how this all unfolds.

i watched it last night, had the same impression. i was relieved when rita got killed off last season, now i gotta suffer thru her continued appearances in flashbacks? teh suck.

you do know what's coming, right? art will imitate real life is my guess.

Lost its oomph, that was one slow-moving hour. I couldn't care less about the immediate aftermath of Rita's death or how it affected her kids. And since when does Dexter abandon his code and randomly kill someone? And to have his dad tell him it was the first "human" thing he's done? Huh?

The new writers better get it together or they'll lose me completely.

I love this show, but cant say the first episode did anything for me. I found myself checking the time wondering when it would finish.

    another slow episode.

wtf is going on with this show?

    ahhh,
Hopefully the new producers, writers and directors will make the transition seamless and continue to the do the show justice.
So far so shitty. Why mess up a good thing? This was the best show on TV and they change producers, writers, and directors? I don't get it.

Definitely getting better. After the surprise of last season wore off, you knew they were going to have to address the aftermath. Honestly, I think they did a decent job. I prefer a slow start to a "6 months later..." cop-out or some other unrealistic resolution to the single-dad with three kids conundrum. Also, with Astrid, Cody and Rita gone, they've pretty much eliminated the three worst actors on the show.

So, what now? He and Jules start hooking up, get hitched and a serial killer duo is born? She watches the kid while he does her bidding? Lots of possibilities, let's hope they run with something interesting.

I was kind of disappointed in how quick they killed off the dead animal guy. Could have been interesting

meh, way more intriguing that he was part of a ring that were torturing those girls. Can't wait to see how that plays out.

Just checking in. Wife and I just started watching this a few weeks ago. I turned on episode 1 that starts off with him killing some guy, got a "what the fuck? I'm NOT watching this" from her - and then we were both hooked by the end of the episode.

Romped through Seasons 1-4. Kind of bummed that I've caught up, but I probably need a break from Dexter's world. I found out about Rita's death on TGR between seasons 2 and 3, and clicked very carefully from then on.

Anyhow, awesome show. I like where it's going - season 4 was gripping...but way too much going on. Getting rid of Rita, Astird, Cody, and suburbia cleaned it right up. They've simplified, while maintaining the tension between the need to kill and his family.
    focus.

Dexter is going to win over each cop in Miami Dade, one by one, until they've all joined his cause and turn Florida into a state of legalized vigilantarchy.
