Anyone Using a Class 6 SD Card as a Drive on a Laptop?
I was thinking about buying one of these and using it as a drive on my netbook(Dell Mini9) rather than buying another higher capacity SSD or an external HD.
Just want to get some info on using how an SD card compares with the SSD performance-wise...
If the OS, pagefile, or any data that changes a lot will be on the drive, don't. The reason SSDs cost more is that they have ECC and wear leveling. The SD card will be dead inside of three months of use if you're slamming it daily.
Thanks, c-t.
Probably use it for storage, movies, etc. Had thoughts of putting OSX on the card but will nix that.
Just read about doing continual rewrites on an SSD drive and how that's not good for it over the long-haul. Didn't know about that before I bought the mini9. Basically, want to lengthen the life of the 16GB SSD I've got by using the cheaper SD card, too cheap to buy another higher capacity SSD...
