Checking in for the first time with this thread. After 3 years in Idaho, I'm moving back east. I'll be based out of Concord, but will likely be skiing Sugarbush/MRG (parents live in Starksboro) and Jay (GF's mom lives in Newport). I'll also be making some trips to Cannon and other NH areas. Word. Stoked.

no need for imagination when we have this to ski all winter. plenty to stare at and ski here......without dodging whips. nice imagination tho!

gonna be another good quiet up high winter.

Jesus Roger, if your head gets any bigger we'll be able to ski down it... I really do appreciate the rockpile stoke but for fuck's sake can you post ONCE without insinuating you're god's gift to eastern skiing and all VT skiers might as well be knitting blankets? Get the fuck over yourself already. [/issue]

You guys must be delirious. Everybody knows that central NY skiing is way more dope than vt and nh combined. Look at this epic pile of snow that I get to ski on all winter long:

    Can you say 700' vertical?

I also get to choose between these 2 beauties as well.

I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world

Used to go to Greek my second year of college before they jacked the prices. Never tried Tog or Lab. Let me know if you are free some weekend and want to get the hell out of here. I try to make runs to the high peaks in the dacks, Mt. Mansfield State forest and western whites every few weeks.

Might be at Greek a few times if I'm itching for some turns and can't get the drive in. Dumpy's usually down there too. Still trying to meet up with him one day. The one day last year they actually get a lot of snow, I can't get out of the city. Took the plows 2 or 3 days to clear the roads in cuse.

Lab is the best place to ski in the area. I'll be skiing/coaching there most weeknights. Togg is boring and the management at Song has ruined the place. I'll be skiing Magic on the weekends this winter (never been there but I'm trusting the judgement of the maggot collective on this one), but I like to get some variety so I'll take you up on that offer.

On another note, surfing at the Wall in NH was pretty nice both yesterday and today. I was the guy on an 80s day-glo orange 8' gun. Yes, I'm well aware that board is overkill for all but a day or two every few years up here. It was a 2005 hurricane season purchase and served me well then.

EDIT: Top of the page music

The KI theory remix is cooler, but I can't find a link.

Who really gives a shit where you ski? I thought the point was you got the fuk out of the office/class/home whatever and got after it, no matter how ideal or not conditions were. My take on it: Appreciate every day you get on snow, no matter how bad, no matter where it is (no location is better than another...they all vary and it depends what you feel like getting off the menu that day). I only get 10 days a season in college...I envy the lot of you.

I couldn't agree more! I have friends that won't ski the local hill because it "isn't worth their time." They would rather not ski at all. Drives me nuts Go there on a weekday, give them $25 and appreciate the fact that they make stuff that looks like snow and is slippery. Who cares how big or how good it is or isn't, just get out and do it!

If anybody wants to complain about where they ski I'll trade jobs with them. Clearly they must enjoy working to bitch about a day skiing.

Any day not working and within sight of snow (real or fake) is a good day.

With that....overnight lows in SLK, NY were a frosty 29. Van. Ho was 29 also. So...yea...remember winter will be here eventually as it heats up from here till the end of the week.
