FKNA they do. Last year they opened on Feb. 24th and were fantastic. By far and away as challenging as any inbounds terrain out there (aside from select western chutes).

They got a bunch the day before too, the skiing might be pretty nice in the western cats right now.

went out at dawn with plans to take 2 laps, but lap 1 was so good (and time was tight), we decided to call it after 1... sometimes it's a bad idea to take too much.

So...who had the Volvo with the MRG and first (tracks I think?) stickers in Apulia today? Parked the camry next to you, but never saw you out there. Ventured into the southern woods with mixed results. Trees were filled in nicely though.

Bump for the evening crowd. Will be up in N Conway tomorrow. Options galore? Looking for solid partner. Familiar with ropes, skiing roped, avy savy, etc. preferred. Projects. PM if interested.

Sunday at Cannon with kids most likely.

    Enjoy the weekend all.

Yes- the slides open when there is good coverage or snow softens. Open a lot with new management over the last few years. March for sure.

More importantly - Whiteface GNAR. Will someone imbed this link I cant..this is worth checking out, although maybe makes this thread NSFW?

That was hilarious! Love that fact the dude went for the lift line almost top to bottom and even buzzed the mid mountain lodge. FKNA that was most excellent!

    UTAH POSTPONED TILL MID-LATE APRIL

    leave it at that.
just got off the phone with my touring partner/good friend craig. after discussing the current snowpack and what's gonna happen once it starts puking and nuking again, we both agreed that waiting would be a better option for our purposes.

craig is and has been busy:http://utahavalanchecenter.org/avala...9_turns_292011

he basically described the current snow conditions as "quite unusual" and "unpredictably scary in places", especially once the new load comes. couple that with many powder hungry human triggers running around wasangelas, i'd just rather wait till april when the base will just be deeper, probably more stable, and much less busy in the bc when our high bc here will by then be the new busy. it's a win/win really.

so ya, 9 days straight of high george later this month won't suck and will surely be quiet and predictable.

hope it dumps like hell in utah and buries all of the scary.

got out with akok and ISBD today, started early and hit 2 different spots. The BC conditions get no better, every day. Some pics later.

    Nice shots SRS!

the bc is busy enough already. april has a proven track record for me. plus lift tickets cost money and i might have to cross someone elses tracks at some point if i ski inbounds. can't have that!
