    Anyone skied / demo-ed the 2011 Movement Jackal ?

    So anyone skied / demo-ed / flex-ed the new 2011 Movement Jackal ?
On paper it looks like it could be a really great off piste ski.

    124/105/136
    170, 177,185, 192cm
    22m turn radius
    3.4kg

Actually very similar specifications to the DPS Wailer 105mm....

Spoke to the UK distributor - but he hasn't tried these skis yet. Plenty information on the web, but most of it so far is marketing blurb.

They are in the new adventure range of skis from Movement.
However I am not sure if the Jackal is something you would want to mount barons / dukes on ? For lift accessed off-piste in and around a euro ski resort. Or is it a real noodle - and best kept for touring & telemark ?
Seems very light weight for the dimensions.

What is your planned split for touring vs resort?

I have 3/4 of a powder day on Blackcomb on a pair of 185's mounted with Freeride Pros.

My usual ski is a 184 Sluff. These are certainly more of a touring ski than the Sluff, very noticeable how much lighter they are. After a few runs on them in knee deep snow I found that I could ski as fast and hard as I usually did inbounds on my Sluff, but you don't have the same feeling of secure confidence as you do on a stiffer beefier ski.

They hand flex a bit softer than the Sluff, but still good torsional stiffness. The tip is a similar shape, but not as long a rise.

I'd say they fall into a 80% tour 20% resort category just fine, especially if that 20% is untouched powder. If your resort time is going to be more I'd go Sluff instead.

Doug, I've never touched or even seen the jackals, but FWIW I read yesterday the backcountry magazine gear guide. They wrote very good of coombacks, very good (as widely expected) of wailer 105 (even though in the cheaper hybrid version), decently of dynafit stoke (very similar to w105 in design and weight), and so-and-so tabout the jackals.

    Cheers guys - great info
I wasn't sure how biased towards touring the new Jackal is.
Sounds like a nice ski - but more 'dynafit / tourer' than 'duke / resort'.

Looking to pick up a new euro resort ski (100-110mm, 190cm, medium flex).
Movement Sluff / Goliath (eeek!) or Coreupt Coirier may tick that box better.

^ Yup - On paper Coreupt Coirier might be my ideal euro resort ski (190cm, subtle 'tip rise', flat tails, medium flex, 102mm, 20-30m turn radius). But again would be buying blind...

Movement obviously make some great skis, so will be interested to see how their new 'adventure' range goes.

cool... my only concern with this generation of coreupt made in china is that some have IMVHO too much of positive camber. No info about these specific Coirier, though :-(
