Took this photo during my first hike up KC...figured it was your tracks RacoonFace. I feel the rock pain too. I hit every rock in lower lake view; they're surprising...like landmines or dog shit.

also at the kirkwood today.

my first run at the wood, 10-11



then dark star and gimpy showed up. over the summer, gimpy grew a tail.


at just over 2' tall, face shots are the name of the game when there's more snow than you


dark star skiing on grass and rocks. but the grass is really really tall.

There were definitely spots that were in the 3' range but for the most part sentinel was between 18-24" didn't hit anything. Twat a great day to start

Snow was great early. Really really light and very satisfying. I just wish I was in better shape!

SKI TOWN SNACKY TREATS AND ARCADE

This post is for the secret spots you like to eat. I hate McD and the like so I'm going to start sharing my favorite places to eat and drink so perhaps it helps someone out like me. If you have a spot map it and post it. I will include it here.

Below the food directory, I'm adding an "Arcade." Here I will link ski oriented games for you to play when you're at work and you're not working...



RENO:
Los 4 Vientos: Awesome Mexican food. Brush up on your Spanish because English won't get you any food.

Naan and Kabab: Mediteranian food. Pretty fkn good, and if you get there between 4pm and 6pm they have a two for one special.

Ceol: Sweet laid back Irish bar. The owner is Ron from the Mt. Rose bar and he did a good job making a fun place to chill.

Nicks Greek Deli: Literally Mom & possibly another Mom. Killer food, and great portions. I recommend the Gyro plate! Is everything Greek named Nick's?

Slide Side: Small coffee shop and bar. Neet place struggling to survive. Built by skiers for skiers... in a crappy location. If you get a chance stop in.

INCLINE:
Austins, good down home cooking. ~unpossible~

Ts Mesquite Rotisserie, no description given, but I am going to guess there is some sort of BBQ element involved... ~unpossible~

NORTH LAKE TAHOE:

Jim, nice work keeping your finger on the pulse. We are opening on
December 15th, those who book early season will be naming runs on
first descents! I am excited too.

The rates are 899. per person per day, and this includes 1.2 hours of
helitime for a group of four people. Bookings require just a fifty
percent deposit, and the second half is not due until the day we are
skiing together. Early booking secures a backup seat on the snowcat.

And, for the record, I think that while it may be good for the local economy if they make a go of it, helicopter skiing has no place in the Lake Tahoe area.

That aside, even if I was a rich clueless dude who wanted to try "extreme" skiing, I wouldn't spend my money heli skiing in the Tahoe area.

okay, no intentions of harshing anybody's mellow, but if this is the "new" thread for the "new" season 2010/2011, then how come all of the stoke posted above is form LAST season?

shouldn't those pix be in the old thread and shouldn't this thread include stoke from like yesterday on forward?

just curious, since it seems that we're blurring seasons here (which is fine by me, since I'm still skiing and still consider this to be this season, not next season).

basically, if you're gonna include stoke from last season in this season's thread, then why didn't we just keep last season's thread percolating?

in short, i'm confused.



that said, stoke is stoke, so keep stoking (fwiw, Vets 'n me got caught in a snow flurry at 10,000+ yesterday down by Virginia Lakes. It was COLD, like middle-of-the-winter cold. Sadly nothing stuck, so we can't claim to have gotten freshies, but we did bust out some laps on 3 different patches of snow for the cause).
