The ants we had at our house in Portland shrugged off the Terro liquid bait. It was like giving beer to frat boys, they would crowd around and drink it endlessly but never seemed to suffer any ill effects (OK, not quite like frat boys). Next time I'll try that Advion stuff.

Is the shit. Put a bead or dots at potential enty points. Needs to be renewed every so often, every few months.

I'm amazed nobody said to use a maul
Had sugar ants that resisted all baits and poisons. The nested somewhere in the wall and would crawl all over the kitchen counter. And we keep it clean.

BORAX with a bit of sugar water on a makeup wipe or paper towel nuked them without having to enter earth orbit.
    Old school solution that works.

Another safe option for yard ants is diatomaceous earth powder. Can get at any pool supply store or some hardware store.

PS. Why nuke earthworms? My wife hates the lumps they make in spring. But I just kick them with my shoe. And the worms aerate the lawn and feed the birds

Go to Mexico. Buy some chlordane. You might have to move out of the house, but the ants will be dead

Trick i use when ants come into the house.

Use a lint roller. On the counter and any surface works amazing.
Chuck it in the garbage outside. Not in the kitchen.

That’s the idea tho. They drink it like a crowded kegger and take it in their little ant solo cups back to the the nest and ant genocide ensues. Patience is big tho. We had to endure several days of bigly swarms around the bait but then one day none showed up. And they haven’t been back since

That's kinda the deal with that stuff, they think it's food. It actually is food, but with poison in it. They bring it back and feed it to the queen and after a while everybody dies. But it can take a while to kill the whole colony especially if it's a big one.

I once had a friend come up to me (a monumental blond for any of you who care) and said all excited like "I'm an ant"
    "That's lovely" says I
She left the house in a huff.
    She'd just become an Aunt

I've had good luck calling an exterminator to come spray the outside and spread DE inside, then just using consumer grade ant spray ever couple of months around the outside of the house. Definitely worth $100 bucks or so for the first round to make sure they are chased away properly

^^^^ sadly it's a true reflection of the story. I really thought she was telling me she was an ant. You'd believe almost anything she would say if you, well I, thought you had a chance
